You clearly haven't seen the video that I am referring to! These aren't just your regular fitness enthusiasts, or "strong men". These are people who are physical freaks, who eat stupid diets and develop their bodies to such extremes that they look totally ridiculous. If they are doing it without drugs then I cannot imagine how. No-one should regard such people as "masculine" role models. They aren't. They are every bit as weird as those shown in the original video.

There is no way that any of them should be promoted as normal by teachers. There is though every reason why their right to be themselves, and for others to show tolerance and compassion, should be promoted.

Parents don't own their children. They are responsible for them, and that means making sure they don't try to make them little versions of themselves but people with open, enquiring minds able to face the rigors of a complicated world on their own.

No-one should promote the view that the only acceptable viewpoint to be promoted to any child at school, their own included, is a mirror image of themselves and their own opinion of what masculinity means.

We no more want Christian fathers insisting that their kids be taught that LGBT people have mental illnesses, or that a women's place is at home, than we want jihadist fathers insisting that their kids be taught how to make bombs in a madrasa.

We want all our children to receive as broad and balanced an education as possible, safely delivered with the intention of producing a society at peace with itself, with it's citizens equipped to ask questions and find answers for themselves.

All of them.

Rather obviously the outcome of any US election has direct consequences for us along with any ‘problems of our own’ that we’re already dealing with. The UK is not a self contained bubble free of influence from the ‘outside world’. As much as some ostriches on here would like it to be so.

I remember the left over here having a meltdown when Trump got elected demanding the government do this or that. They didn't seem to understand that it's not our job to police US elections all we can do is try and make nice with whoever is president.
