Also - yes I do. Anyone rioting, breaking and entering and generally being a dick simply because they haven’t got the morality and intellect to protest and debate democratically is a disgrace. Antifa, BLM, Croydon rioters, I don’t care. All equal in their t***tishness. This however, from the significant numbers that took part in illegally breaking in to a government building, wielding weapons, to deliberately try and disrupt not just any democratic process, but THE democratic process, is on another level. Violence, no violence, doesn’t matter. Ok, but I have already answered this point. You weren't writing about this before and you had four years to do it.

Trump encouraged this. The man acquires more enemies at every turn. I very much doubt Republicans are particularly happy with feeling that their lives were endangered based on his inability to accept that he lost the election. At the same time though, considering there's at least a chance that he's eventually end up behind bars or swamped with legal issues for the rest of his days, I can understand why he feels he has little left to lose. Edited by BlueJay (06 Jan 2021 9.13pm) You don't really understand what's happening in the republican party. It's like an old man talking about grind music.

I think the thing that incenses me the most is the ultimate reason for all of this is so trump can make money from swelling both his post presidential support base and therefore his coffers. If you’re right leaning at this stage I simply can’t understand why you are unable to denounce Trump. Does being partisan overrule common sense, decency and morality? Even politicians on both sides are denouncing this. And they’re politicians - for those supporting this, what does that make you? Aaaand the giant orange hamburger is speaking. Finally telling them to go home. At last some sense - but a little bit after the horse has bolted!

In fairness to Stirling, if you’re referring to violence rather than symbolism here this is pretty vanilla. When it comes to violence left leaning riots have been far worse and far closer to terrorism than this.

Really other than the whataboutery point I haven't really got a lot to say about it all. It's a distraction nothing more. I don't support actual violence however, you had berks on the forum talking about 'healing' so perhaps they now understand what the next few years are going to be. I've been saying it for months now....the left are going to reap what they sowed and while I can't support violence or criminality I can see that the right wing groups have stopped supporting the Police. Again, I've said you are witnessing the slow fragmentation of the US.....but it's like all these events are suddenly a shock to you guys.

When it comes to violence left-leaning riots have been far worse and far closer to terrorism than this. I sort of agree, in as much as these protesters will now not smash up shops and loot. But this was a political act. And therefore, if you oppose them, you could class it as terrorism. That entire 'one person's freedom fighter is another persons terrorist' schtick is valid in this context. And needs to be seen as the potential opening shots in a far wider war. They made it into the Senate building and closed down the specific meeting to confirm a new President. This ain't no excuse of extreme shopping. Personally, I support the protesters 100%. This is how you get people to take notice. No pissing about, straight in. You think democracy has been scuppered, this is how you should react. Yes there is going to be a back-lash but that is all good. Will only aid the wider cause. About time people fought back.
