All over now Will be interesting to see if the ‘mostly peaceful’ protest turns violent elsewhere later in the day. It probably won’t - on the whole these people appear to mainly be joyriders looking for some content for their livestreams. I doubt most of them are actually angry at anything. If they were there would be real violence.

Revolution? Na...it's just role reversal. Well to be more accurate, what you are seeing is an internal war within the Republican party start to play out....a lot of angry people. That's what is happening.....not to dissimilar to 2016 within the Democrats. On a longer time scale the slow fragmentation of the US....where states pick and choose what rules they follow from government....again, similar to the last four years. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Jan 2021 8.46pm) Apparently these people are revolutionaries. That means they want to overthrow the Government in my book. ''Elijah Schaffer, a presenter on the right-wing Blaze TV channel, posted a picture which he claimed was taken inside the abandoned office of the House leader. “BREAKING: I am inside Nancy Pelosi’s office with the thousands of revolutionaries who have stormed the building,” he wrote.'' It's amazing what one rabble rouser can do innit. By the way, that kind of too has another o too to add to to - which makes two.

The symbolism and attempt to disrupt a democratic process ‘trumps’ the violence. Yes it’s mostly peaceful (for now) but the bit that isn’t is far worse than rioting. It’s a disgrace Also I remember antifa / BLM etc rioting being covered extensively across multiple news outlets. I don’t remember any of them supporting it. I’m sure there are some right wing media outlets and self appointed figureheads doing just that. Trump is - if he wasn’t he’d ask them to leave. What he isn’t saying says it all. The vast majority of the networks refused to criticise Antifa/blm...who were actually doing it. So I'm not sure you are remembering it well. Well, much in the same vein here, no one's come out and supported any violence here either. So no doubt you'll feel much the same way....except you don't do you. Anyway, it's all handbags, well for now.

Almost everyone on here has condemned violent protests, I certainly have. With that in mind, it seems rather disingenuous now to try to gloss over a complete disregard for law and attempt to either move on from it as it's happening or colour it neutrally as a show of power rather than something that is dangerous for elected officials and protestors alike. The other week W12 made a few comments on here that did not in any way fall short of painting violence at this time as a valid option. I'm not looking for conversation to become tainted by stuff that is more at home on TOR. Anyone with sense criticises what is happening here without reservation. They don't get a thrill out of it or shrug off politicians holding a democratically held vote being imperiled en-masse. Edited by BlueJay (06 Jan 2021 9.06pm) Agreed.

Trump encouraged this. The man acquires more enemies at every turn. I very much doubt Republicans are particularly happy with feeling that their lives were endangered based on his inability to accept that he lost the election. At the same time though, considering there's at least a chance that he's eventually end up behind bars or swamped with legal issues for the rest of his days, I can understand why he feels he has little left to lose. This is a show of handbags. You'll have your government of degenerates soon enough. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Jan 2021 9.16pm)

Anyone rioting, breaking and entering and generally being a dick simply because they haven’t got the morality and intellect to protest and debate democratically is a disgrace. Antifa, BLM, Croydon rioters, I don’t care. All equal in their t***tishness. This however, from the significant numbers that took part in illegally breaking in to a government building, wielding weapons, to deliberately try and disrupt not just any democratic process, but THE democratic process, is on another level. Violence, no violence, doesn’t matter.
