In fairness Croydon was a lot more punchy than this. Most of them seem to be wandering around looking surprised they actually got in. The symbolism and sheer brazenness of this is what makes it outrageous. Not the violence. Vandals

This is the s*** that would have gone down here if Brexit had been thwarted. The supposed 'bright and beautiful' of modern politics still don't seem to have grasped the undercurrents of real anger that underpinned both Brexit and Trump's election. The Democrats hijacked Covid to game the election. As simple as that. No Covid, Trump strolls it. This is not a coup. This is just very real anger. What I do not understand is how they even got into that building. Whatever the outcome, whoever is in charge of security needs to be hauled over a lot of very hot coals.

It's that after years of watching the Police soft ball Antifa/blm and operate against those who actually supported the Police, right wing groups have had enough. After their leader was arrested yesterday they have decided to stop supporting the Police and to start treating them as Antifa treat them. In terms of the Police that's what you are seeing. The Capitol building event is specific to the election and would have happened regardless. Maybe it will end like Jim Jones and his People’s Temple in Guyana. Trump gets all his supporters to kill themselves and then he miraculously escapes....

Breaking and entering congress is another level altogether. Doesn’t matter who it is, that’s why it’s provoking significant outrage. If you don’t think this is wrong because ‘the left’ then that’s a pretty childish point of view. Again, any violence is disgraceful - I don’t care the ‘side’ but this? Morony of the highest order Just because other people on the ‘other side’ have in your view been getting away with violent rioting doesn’t justify this in any way. Simple as. I don't agree....I think it's much the same. The building is symbolic for sure, but other than that the same processes are at play. The break in doesn't change anything....again, symbolic. The only difference is in the reaction the media have and the reaction from those on the left.....you suddenly want to write about it. I mean...look at the mostly peaceful demonstration....don't look at the broken doors and glass.

The actual seat of power you know....where the great and good are. Good heavens, you know...they actually stopped Antifa/blm getting to the White House as well you know....Blimey. Now do you want to find all the photos of the destruction that the Police allowed Antifa/blm to do? No, thought not.....but there are countless examples of the Police standing down for it....lost buildings, businesses, lost lives. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Jan 2021 8.55pm)

Yes it’s mostly peaceful (for now) but the bit that isn’t is far worse than rioting. It’s a disgrace Also I remember antifa / BLM etc rioting being covered extensively across multiple news outlets. I don’t remember any of them supporting it. I’m sure there are some right wing media outlets and self appointed figureheads doing just that. Trump is - if he wasn’t he’d ask them to leave. What he isn’t saying says it all.

Almost everyone on here has condemned violent protests, I certainly have. With that in mind, it seems rather disingenuous now to try to gloss over a complete disregard for law and attempt to either move on from it as it's happening or colour it neutrally as a show of power rather than something that is dangerous for elected officials and protestors alike. The other week W12 made a few comments on here that did not in any way fall short of painting violence at this time as a valid option. I'm not looking for conversation to become tainted by stuff that is more at home on TOR. Anyone with sense criticises what is happening here without reservation. They don't get a thrill out of it or shrug off politicians holding a democratically held vote being imperiled en-masse. Edited by BlueJay (06 Jan 2021 9.06pm)
