One of my US friends sent me a video only this morning, from a "doctor" that proposed that the virus was not natural but engineered to force us all to be vaccinated and that the vaccine would also be engineered to control our minds which would then be supervised by the 5G network. This guy really believes it and apparently the video has gone viral in the USA. The thing is that he is a normally perfectly reasonable, balanced guy who has been a good mate for years. It's strange. Ah, the version I've seen is that in with the vaccination is a microchip that will enter the blood stream, and the the 5G will be able to trace everyone's whereabouts at any given time.......Big Brother really will be watching us (and tracking us).

DIY may not be essential but repairs are. I had an emergency and needed a new bathroom tap whilst I could turn the water off I didn't fancy not having a sink for months on end. There will be lots of these little domestic crisis amongst the bloke building a new wardrobe. DIY may not be classed as essential but at least it will give people the opportunity to keep themselves busy during lockdown. I would consider social distancing to be relatively easy in DIY stores

I ordered online and collected within 2 hours after the emailed and texted me it was ready. Totally contactless. The goods were put in my boot by them.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

We queued in the car park with social spacing and they brought our goods to the table at the front door. It seem to work fine.

Click and Collect DIY is great if you know exactly what you want. With me it's often a case of I need a thingy like this to go in the wotsit.

Having just returned from work my wife says there is a rumour (and that is all it is at present) that Gatwick may be closing. Only 2 flights today Dublin and Budapest (only 20 people on it). With those numbers rumour could well be true. If I hear anymore will post it

The sad fact is that a huge proportion of the population are just stupid. I was standing outside Sainsbury in the queue with the oldies and the old dear in front of me told another old dear that she had heard that the lockdown could go on for months saying that "this Government are just useless"

Yesterday I saw an article* about an essential worker who had booked a test drove to the centre but unfortunately they had run out of test kits. She was furious with the government but what essential role did she have: Doctor , Nurse, Care Home Worker, hospital cleaner err no she was a manager at Poundland. Instead of slamming the government the journalist should have asked her why she was taking a spot that the real essential workers need. Apparently there are no checks when you book to confirm you are an essential worker so no doubt some idiots are queuing up for a free test and clogging up the system. *Sorry I can't find the article.

I understand what you mean but tbf shop workers have been classified as essential workers and have had to continue going to work. Personally (and I don’t have any personal involvement) I do not think check out staff and other shop workers are getting enough recognition for continuing to work.

I hear what you say but perhaps there should be a grading system with first dibs going to NHS front line workers plus care home staff and only then do other "essential workers" get tested
