Yes, and people would never fly, and man stepping on the moon is just absurd. And talking to people around the world, doing shopping, checking bank balances, taking photos, surfing web on a hand held device - well that's just cloud cuckoo land I think you have been strangling kojak over terminator movies a bit too much. Even if the technology existed to plant, water, pick, pack, ship and sell a piece of fruit without a single human being involved, not every farmer in the world is going to be able to afford all of those wonderful machines. You mean like shooting a US drone down, and just facing non military repercussions because Trump is all empty hardman talk. Ooh a cyber attack on their missile systems and more sanctions. Big deal. They are limpet mining oil tankers and shooting drones out of the sky. Not exactly timid behavior is it? I would say Iran is playing this chidlike moron quite well, just like North Korea, Russia and Saudi Arabia. Edited by Maine Eagle (24 Jun 2019 10.41pm)

A small attack on Iran is precisely what the hardliners in Iran want...150 dead Iranians isn't going to affect them and it'll shore up support.....when instead this is a sign that the economic sanctions Trump is using are working. Unless Americans are dying Trump shouldn't be responding militarily. The tankers will get military support. Sorry Maine....but I can't help but have the impression that if Trump had responded with attacks you'd be criticising that as well.

I was merely responding to "why would the Iranians mess with Trump". The reasons are clear to see. Well Trump did respond with attacks, then bottled it like a senile dithering old fool with 10 mins to go, which is kind of the point I am making. Its like hiring Frank De Boer, sacking him after a few games doesn't make up for the huge initial error.

After continually calling Trump a liar....and we all know that Trump likes a good porkie......now you suddenly decide that you're going to believe what Trump says on Twitter? Edited by Stirlingsays (25 Jun 2019 2.44am) Its been widely reported on that the strikes were ordered and the pilots were stood down with 10 mins left. Trump's twitter feed is about as reliable as Tommy Robinson officiating a Muslim wedding.

It does make me smile to now find you now implicitly arguing that Trump was telling the truth on his Twitter after continually calling him a liar. Edited by Stirlingsays (25 Jun 2019 3.03am)

Edited by Stirlingsays (25 Jun 2019 3.03am) Well generally government officials dont go on record discussing aborted missile strikes. Trump is so dumb though that he spilled the beans. Trump saying it along with overwhelming reporting to support it, probably means its passes mustard. At some point, Stirlingsays, you have to believe credible media sources, because one is not able to physically witness everything which happens in the world. There was a building collapse in Cambodia recently, which was widely reported on, but I didnt personally see it.

Sure Mainey......but are these the same kind of 'credible sources' that reported on the Covington Kids and Jussie Smollett? You see Mainey I don't care whether it's true or not....crowbarring in an insult to Trump isn't on my important list of things to do. However, I'd quite like to avoid getting dragged into a war with Iran if at all possible. Edited by Stirlingsays (25 Jun 2019 3.22am)

Regarding Jussie Smollett obviously its news and on the face of it, it appeared credible, just ask the cops. Are news outlets expected to wait a few days to report anything until any possible malfeasance has been ruled out? As for that little t*** from Covington, go ahead and watch the video and decide for yourself what that smug little rich white boy with a stupid grin on his face was doing standing 1 foot away from a tribal elder singing a traditional native american indian song. The nature of news media is things get reported on initially and then can change, its the nature of the beast. When 9/11 happened I recall the first news story being a light aircraft had hit with the possibility of 10 dead. So your solution is to believe nothing at all? How do you know what happened to Jussie Smollett, Stirly, you werent there?

And talking to people around the world, doing shopping, checking bank balances, taking photos, surfing web on a hand held device - well that's just cloud cuckoo land Not everywhere! I am in SE Asia for a few weeks, in a very remote rural location. Here people gather everything by hand including the caribou poo they use to fertilise. They don't even use wheelbarrows but carry everything in sacks. As you can see there is some internet, accessed via an intermittent and mega slow cell signal. I sat eating a table of 10 last night and asked what everyone thought of Donald Trump. Only one had even heard of him!
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |
