Regarding seasonal fruit picking native born Americans have largely shown they do not want to do that type of work. Moreover if the farmer has to pay more wages the cost of goods will go up for the end user, no one wants that.

Hundreds of thousands of these people have had kids born in the US who are American citizens. What happens to their kids when the parents are deported?

Its not so easy to fix this issue. Its a dog whistle for Trump's base.

At this stage there should be a pathway to citizenship for worthy candidates and sure - toughen up the border and stop more illegal migration in the future, but a multi billion dollar wall is not going to do that.

If a kid was brought here illegally by his parents as a 3 year old, built a life, served the country, pays taxes, has a family, is a model citizen, you are going to rip him out of his house, away from his kids destroying his family and send him to Mexico?

Automation will sort out aspects like the fruit picking sector, there are already systems in use. As time goes by they will become standard.

Yes Reagan had an Amnesty. It's just that they never ring fenced it properly. I used to know people who'd smuggle Khat into the USA pre 9/11 If caught they'd spend a night in jail then be put on the first flight in the morning. They'd simply renew their passport when they got home. No fingerprints or Iris recognition back then

Go after the gang bangers & miscreants, why pick on the poor sod who's peeling spuds in a restaurant or delivering you're pizza. Chucky & Nancy need to agree some sort of Immigration policy with Trump. Maybe tighten up on over stayers & I actually agree with Trump on chain migration. I see loads around here with no skills barely able to speak English & frankly coming here & living on benefits. I would like to see some sort of amnesty where people who have been here for a number of years, pay a fine, learn to speak English get some sort of legal status & then after a number of years apply for citizenship.
