She went to Newnham College Cambridge. An all women's college.
How out dated in this day and age. Germaine Greer went there too. That figures.

She worked her way up through the Lefty ranks under the wing of the likes of Ken Livingstone. That figures.

I was responding to the poster who said she was uneducated.

Yes, That was the only one you could have objected to.

Alarm bell should have been ringing when she submitted he first dissertation entitled How To Subvert The Honky Devil.

Personally I thought calling her a cow was extremely unfair as well. I've heard cows say much more insightful things than she does.

Women in public life are now being openly bullied. How has this become normal?

Given Corbyn, the SWP's and Momentum's reputation for bullying, I
whether ignoring or actually doing it, I am glad you raised what is a serious issue on the Corbyn thread.

However, private text messages, even poor taste ones, are not the same as bullying.

Bulls***.

Everyone in public life is openly bullied and now women are no exception. That is what comes and should come with equality.
Funny how they then want to cry foul.

I'm not, plus I've never really had people threaten to rape me, outside of this forum, for expressing a view. Where as plenty of women I know have had unsolicited dick pics, and of course there are those who have had rape threats just for saying something vaguely controversial.

Women, online, generally experience a less 'gender friendly environment'.

Germaine Greer is quite a celebrated and accomplished academic and writer, and led quite an interesting life. Not sure why it figures, that her and Diane Abbot went to the same school.

Are you including Mrs T in that indignant outrage? Possibly the most vilified politician of modern times, irrespective of gender. Didn't hear much from The Guardian then, did we?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I remember Germaine on the telly a few years ago waxing lyrical about the exhibit of a conceptual 'artist' that consisted of an empty gallery - one he had especially chosen apparently. She seemed to think it rivaled Michelangelo. I think she did accomplish something, in confirming that the intelligentsia are often foolish and gullible

We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell]

There is clearly a difference between what women experience in the way of "bullying" and what men experience. It is gender dependent in that sense. However what is unacceptable does not change. It cannot be right to actually threaten someone with harm. It is likely to be unlawful in any case. I'd have said that the law looks more sympathetically on women in cases of intimidation.

Celebrated by who exactly? It really depends on your point of view.

I'd say both of them have personal prejudices that they pass off as wisdom.
