Interesting for sure. I always thought there was no Eze or Guehi release clause and this confirms. It means put up or shut up for any interested parties this summer.

Never looked happy when he scored a goal, never looked happy when another Palace player scored a goal, always spoke about how he was only really interested in furthering his own career and obviously made sure that he was able to escape from the Palace as soon as a decent team came in for him. In my book, this is a player I don’t really want in the team at all anyway, but have I totally misjudged him? Just a possible character playbook of the player that is Michael Olise. What are fans thoughts on how he has played out his career with us to date? I think you have completely mis judged him. He has been nothing but professional and one of the best players to ever play for Palace. Off to one of the biggest clubs in the world. I’ve forgotten him already but Good luck to him.

What are fans thoughts on how he has played out his career with us to date? An interesting observation Eaglecoops and I'm sure you're not alone. I've been hoping and praying (figure of speech) that he would still be Palace next season. I've loved watching him play, such sublime skills, but you have to say he's hardly ever looked like he's enjoying himself. I remember just once when he scored and ran, smiling, to embrace Dougie, Ollie and the rest of the team will find a replacement to suitably fill the void. Just pleased he won't be in the Prem to annoy us.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

When your children are teenagers, it’s important to have a dog so that someone in the house is happy to see you |

Better off without him!! What a comment. One of the best players in our history and will go onto to be one of the best in world football and we are better off without because he doesn’t smile enough. Suffering christ above give me strength.

Suffering christ above give me strength. His ability has never been in question, his love of the Palace family perhaps less so, I don’t think anyone is suggesting we are better off without such a good player, but better off without a player who is not wedded to playing for us.

What are fans thoughts on how he has played out his career with us to date? My take is 180 degrees away from this. Having spent 35 years teaching and coaching teenagers, I know that many of them embrace cool, even enigmatic behavior – heck, that approach has been popular as far back as James Dean, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles. I also think he's a bit of a perfectionist who, even when he scores goals, rues the chances he has missed. Finally, just like his best mate Eze, he is a fundamentally respectful and humble young man who may regard any kind of celebration as unbecoming. They may vastly prefer the restraint of someone like Ayew to the cockiness of a Ronaldo. The fact that he and Eze are such good friends – almost brotherly – says a lot to me about Olise's personality as well as his character.

Quite, thank you Eaglecoops. No denying he's a wonderful player and I'm very sorry to see him go. My point, maybe not expressed well, is that Olise is not true to the Palace way, and, as such, we wave goodbye, wish him luck and rebuild successfully with others identified by Dougie and his team. Not forgetting, of course, that we have JRS and Franca waiting to be given an opportunity under Ollie's tutelage.

Get that, it’s a shame loyalty isn’t a popular trait any more though.

If I am in Olises position... I wouldn't fancy staying at a club that flirts with relegation every season and then when I get to 30/31 no trophies and only a club in turkey wants me. (Yes I'm looking at Zaha) I'm going to go and win trophies while I am in my prime. The release clause was great for olise something the likes of Zaha should have had when Arsenal came calling.

What are fans thoughts on how he has played out his career with us to date? Sorry, I completely disagree. I wish him nothing but the best and feel privileged, as a Palace fan, that he's worn the shirt for as long as he has. He should be ambitious, for, imo, he deserves to be playing in the best competitions in the world, such is his talent. It's players like him that make me love football, the beautiful game. I'm pleased he's not flash, too, as it happens. Just talented. For me, he is the best I've ever seen at Palace, even above Atillio. Good luck, MO, and best wishes.
