This forums so ironic and baffling at times. So quite a few of you are singing Vieiras praises and suggesting leaving/turning in your season tickets if Roy gets the position for the last 10 games because its boring, awful football. Have I missed something here??? The last 10 games we've had under Vieira, Palace have scored 2 goals and haven't won a game. Not to mention a new record of zero shots in 3 games, the lack of any attacking threat or generally any threat... any cohesion or any semblance of a squad seen over the last 10 years. At least under Hodgson there was some grit there albeit not exciting football. If he keeps us up then good... another season to regroup again. I don't want Roy back but I am not delusional to the fact that Vieiras tenure hasn't been rosy and brilliant.

It's hypocritical to think its been marvelous under Vieira, it hasn't... the last 10 games have been some of the most gutless games I've seen.

Exactly so things need to change not more of the same crap.

I think you must have missed a lot of the match threads if you think we all thought things were rosy. The vision of Vieira whilst well meant and viewable in glimpses last season doesn’t work without exactly the right players and we all know we can’t afford them so the end result was in hindsight inevitable.

Maybe too much emphasis was put on getting Gallagher back rather than looking at other options? As you say, we can't compete in the market with big spenders and he was priced out of our reach. Disappointing, but surely our club management is 'experienced' enough to work out other solutions? This leadership fiasco and the impending struggle against relegation was unnecessary. It really makes them look like a bunch of amateurs.

I sort of agree with you. This is my 52nd year at Selhurst Park and as I've said before, I support and watch Palace. Really, who we're playing, what division we're in, and the fact that we're crap don't really matter. Don't get me wrong; I want us to do well and I'd like to see us play entertaining football but either way, I'll be there and the negatives don't change how I feel about the club on an emotional level. I have plenty of strong opinions (as you all know), but I cannot imagine switching off and saying "enough"; I'm not coming to Selhurst anymore.

As a fellow 50 year plus fan and season ticket holder, I am positively amazed how Crystal Palace support has gone worldwide as this forum clearly shows. If we could just kick on and grow, we would be (and are) so close to becoming a top club which is surely everyone's dream.

Interesting to note it would appear that Roy is the only manager under SP (and there have been a fair few) who has not left under a cloud.
To be fair to Parish though, I suppose the same can be said about most departing managers everywhere. Football really is ruthless.

Roy hands on to Carrick? Why not?

I've been thinking and reading about all this getting Roy back, and do you know what?

Rather than Roy, I'd sooner see Pulis back..... can't actually stand the man,but we had the fastest and fittest squad we possible ever had under him & he took no bullsh*t from anyone, they did as they were told.

Vieira would probably, in time and with the right players, have been a good manager, but that configuration was never gonna happen at Palace, was it?

I've also clocked up 50+ years on the terrace at Selhurst and of course seen all our ups and downs during that time. So much has changed in recent years, particularly in terms of globalisation with all it entails. Has it improved OUR match day experience though? I really don't think it's done much for mine. We are still a long way off from being a 'top club' but our expectations seem to be greater every year.

Pulis was taken to court by Parish, so no chance Pulis will come back, but Roy might well be knocking on the door?

I think we need to batter a few of these fly-by-night young 'un supporters with our walking sticks, dreamwaverider :-). Age comes to us all and everything starts to slow down, except your love for Palace.

You are so right about the global support. I'd never really thought about it that way but this forum does show how we're on the cusp of becoming something much bigger than we've ever been before.

I do wonder, though, if that (success...being bigger) is really the dream? Maybe it is, but I'm not sure I really care. It's the constant; the continual presence in my life of Palace that's the important thing. My son (20 years old now) just joined HOL (he's supported Palace for a while) and it's occurred to me that long after I'm gone, one of us will have been going to Selhurst for well over a century by the time he's as old as you and I are now. That makes Palace far more important to me than winning a trophy.

I could see Sam as a bridge till the end of the season as an option, to buy time until a permanent appointment could be made, but a lot would depend upon how things were left when Sam & SP parted company last time, both indicated publicly that there were no hard feelings but only they know if that was really the case

Not unless you're corporate and your idea of tasteful progress is being ensconced in a white leatherette swivel chair :-). Beyond that, Parish's idea of a better matchday experience seems to be putting a garish bit of plasterboard on a brick wall and re-naming a burger stand "The Jim Cannon" while still serving up more or less exactly the same dross in exactly the same place. But at a higher cost.

Is obvious to see that Vieira has been a disaster at every aspect of his management, its interesting that the players that have deteriorated most are, Mitchell, Eze, Luka, Jairo and Wilf all of them coached by Roy, PV spent net -126m, Hodgson after his time at Palace, spent net +5.2m, A complete new manager needs to be appointed at the end of the season, not now, it needs either, Roy, Lewington, Derry, McCarthy or Freedman until the end of the season, they need to play, Roy style, which most are used to until the end of the season, and go from their, i also think it is unwise to buy players or a manager who hasn't done well in the Premiership or Championship, i think we will survive comfortably if we keep it "in House"
