Gutted for the lads. They really deserved more and put in a decent display and gave it a real good go unlike a few years ago. You just have to be able to punish teams when you're on top. F*ck penalties and f*ck dodgy refs is about my main emotions right now. Hoping for a Croatia v Morocco final to soften the blow.

Not as bad as seeing Palace beaten. Feeling the same. Looking forward very much to Boxing Day and the ongoing season.

Absolutely a dodgy ref, but once again England fail to roll their sleeves up and give as good as they get. How many French attacks were stopped by a cynical foul? I can recall one. How many England attacks? Loads. Exactly the same in the Euro final; all the dirty tricks employed by the opposition and the referee too weak or too biased to punish it adequately if at all.

Awful referee, awful substitutions, awful draw for us of course. Had we won this I’d of fancied us to do the unthinkable and win the WC. However, I could have written that script. Of all the teams left I did think we were the strongest. I would have said France before todays game but we were the better side. Southgate has done well in creating a positive culture for the players however that is not enough, you need a winning culture. This England team is nowhere near as bad but has the same weak mentality and gutlessness we’ve all become so used to. Id quite confidently assert it’s the best England team I’ve ever seen and possibly the best team in the world. We’ve seen the likes of Germany, Spain, Portugal and even Brazil fall due to poor mentality and of course we have now gone to as we always do. France have a superior attitude and belief. Not saying this out of anger etc. but I genuinely don’t care that much, far less than I used to certainly. May be timing of wc, may be just getting older or anything else but I consider myself an England ‘fan’ however it’s not anywhere remotely close to my feelings for Palace. As mentioned on another thread I have a sum total of four eagles tattooed on me, no lions however. Roll on Boxing Day and good luck Croatia (my sweepstake team).
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Can’t knock the performance or application. The truth is we don’t have the winners mentality and the ‘know how’ to win the bigs games which matter. Sad evening. Didn’t deserve to lose that.

How must Harry Kane be feeling it's very cruel and the penalty miss lost the game. After all he has done and now tied England's top scorer.

Tbf it seems in this tournament it's only really France that do. Painful, but I feel more positive than the last two exits against Croatia and Italy. I feel the team today would have won both those games... of course it's only hypothetical and we have departed the tournament earlier than in the last two but there does seem to be some progress made.

Terrible refereeing, two bad bits of defending that led to goals, the usual lack of 'nous' in the midfield battleground (as I've already posted). And yes; poor finishing, including from the penalty spot.

To win big tournaments you need decisions to go in your favour. For as much as England will get trolled for missing the pen in the second half it doesn't negate the fact the first French goal shouldn't have stood, nor the very first penalty decision which wasn't even looked at by VAR. Add in Hernandez could have walked so we can feel legitimately cheesed off with an incompetent refereeing performance that disproportionately favoured the French. To have that a day after Lahoz ruined the Netherland-Argie game really spoils the World Cup as a spectacle. Humbug!

They are positive there is an agenda for lower teams to progress, France an exception but they are really no better or worse than us.
