nothing to do with our benefits regime ? so tell us, what attracted the mothers of the July 7/7 bombers to the UK ? was it a love of Beowulf & Chaucer ? and is that just an isolated case ? or are there mono-cultural ghettos in the UK that do not want to speak English nor Marry/Date much English people ? and is there a cohort of people living in Sweden with an outright hostility to Swedish language & culture ? i am only asking the question. As do GB news. edit....sometimes they actually do marry an English girl..... Edited by PalazioVecchio (14 Mar 2023 11.06am)

If it's true that the violence they do have is armed then they need to deal with the way guns are in circulation. You might guess who is involved. Many on the right do just that and then circulate it as if it were fact. I prefer not to make guesses. What seems to be true is that Sweden's traditionally welcoming approach to refugees has resulted in an overload in the last few years, which has produced a political swing and a government further to the right than in the past. A government who are now tightening the rules, in order to satisfy people's concerns. I can understand that. Things must be kept sensible and in balance. Problems must be addressed. What mustn't happen is that they be exaggerated to the point where those in real need get targeted. If Sweden's generosity of spirit has been exploited by criminal gangs, then of course they need to deal with it. As we are trying to.

Edited by PalazioVecchio (14 Mar 2023 11.06am) I don't for a moment deny that there are some bad people in the world who try to exploit the kindness of others. Do you deny that there are also people in genuine need who need our help? The challenge is to deal with the first, whilst not dealing with the second. It's always been a challenge, and is likely to reman one. That some communities take time to assimilate is every bit a reflection on us, as on them. Over the centuries many new arrivals have successfully assimilated. Some in our lifetimes. Most manage to retain links to the culture of their families, why would they not? They also become proud Brits, often treasuring what we have here with more passion than those born here, who have never witnessed conditions elsewhere. You only want to look at the problems, but there are also many successes. Best always to emphasise the positive, use them as examples to the negative and deal harshly with any who persistently seek to do harm. Simply moaning achieves nothing. The clock will not turn back, or history be rewritten. We have no choice but to keep on keeping on. GB news, and people with your attitude, don't help at all. They just muddy the water and make it harder for everyone. Themselves included.

Completely untrue. I see things as they really are. We have issues that must be dealt with. It might surprise you to know that I see sense in the government's current ideas and don't agree with Lineker's analysis. The fantasies are all yours. There are no easy solutions. We are where we are. If people are refusing to learn English and not assimilating, then we need to take steps to correct that. And we are, often with great success. Not with everyone, yet. So we must redouble the efforts. Just pointing out the failures does nothing to help. It just winds up those who most directly impacted and makes them angry and unhappy. They too need to be supported. It's a task for everyone. Including you.

Of course it matters who has access to these guns - Finland, Iceland, Switzerland, Norway & Austria all have more per capita without having the same problems as Sweden.

I don't think it is the number of guns in Sweden that is the prime problem, it is the number of immigrants and their nature.

What I would suggest about dealing with criminality from immigration is: you don't leave the tap on when dealing with a leaky sink. You turn the tap off - deal with the leak and then use the tap when you want to.

Paulina Neuding, who writes for Svenska Dagbladet, has recently written: “Barely a day goes by in Stockholm without a shooting or a bombing. In one part of the city, housing estate residents have been informed about what to do if their building is a bombing target. For all too may Swedes, this is the new normal.” (Sweden have for some years stopped providing crime statistics by ethnicity - as no doubt it provided evidence of how disastrous, what you hilariously call, 'generosity of spirit, has been for their country.) Do we provide this sort of statistic in the UK then? I live in the West Midlands area and in Birmingham there is a shooting or stabbing every day and it seems that the vast majority of the perpetrators and victims are black but I haven't seen any official statistics
