I think we'd be better having a young understudy to Mateta than an out and out rival - whichever striker is on the bench would be mightily p*ssed off, unlike say if we had Seesegnon trying to prove his fitness by challenging Mitchell, first tream football would be an opportunity not an expectation. I agree. I think the reported link to Bamba is more like a “Palace type” of deal and there would be plenty of scope to add value in time. Unlike any signings from Arsenal - where we’d be paying well over the odds to start with. (Nketiah, Smith Rowe and Nelson are all double what their worth)!

I agree with posters who say we'd be paying top dollar for a good but not excellent striker. He ain't no Ian Wright whose strength was glancing up a split second before he got his shot off and finding the space past the keeper. This guy is a hit and hope merchant, alot like Benteke was so he'll find the keeper alot.
