I think we'd be better having a young understudy to Mateta than an out and out rival - whichever striker is on the bench would be mightily p*ssed off, unlike say if we had Seesegnon trying to prove his fitness by challenging Mitchell, first tream football would be an opportunity not an expectation. You want competition for places but you can throw a spanner in the works if you're not careful.

Arsenal seem to be really overrating their players. Smith Rowe has barely played. Nketiah has had a bit part and looks ok - not exactly overwhelming. Neither are worth a huge outlay.

Geuhi will be on a well earned rest, and his value has shot up. If he does go to Arsenal then Nketiah wd be a good part exchange

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I think the reported link to Bamba is more like a “Palace type” of deal and there would be plenty of scope to add value in time. Unlike any signings from Arsenal - where we’d be paying well over the odds to start with. (Nketiah, Smith Rowe and Nelson are all double what their worth)!

Hopefully he’ll go to Marseille… if he was good enough he’d stay at Arsenal…

I agree with posters who say we'd be paying top dollar for a good but not excellent striker. He ain't no Ian Wright whose strength was glancing up a split second before he got his shot off and finding the space past the keeper. This guy is a hit and hope merchant, alot like Benteke was so he'll find the keeper alot. He's also a tad greedy.

I think he could real difference at Palace but I don't think it's gonna happen

Have you noticed both Arsenal and Chelsea have suddenly labelled all the duds they want to sell “fantasic players”

Swap deal plus 40 million coming our way seems fair….
Palace lose 25-30% from any Guehi transfer fee. (Chelsea sell on clause) Maguire many seasons ago (19/20) transferred to United for what was it 80m he had at the time around the same amount of England experience as Guehi currently has. Originally posted by Badger11
I would take him if he really was only 25m over paying silly Nketiah price (Plus I remember him turning us down before when we went after him)

Just said on sports news we’re back in for him, but at 30 million I’d say that will rule us out, we got stung by paying that sort of money for a striker before and I can’t see us doing it again
