all of this media reporting makes it sound like we're still in the throes of manager shortlists. I'd have thought that we're at contract stages with our final man and it's purely a matter of communication now. Roy will have his clap this evening, and we'll either announce after the news cycle of the Arsenal game or after the final game against Liverpool.

Apparently the club knew ages ago Roy was leaving. No-one on here knew anything about it and many were convinced he was staying. So following the same thought process it may well be that the club have known who the replacement is for some time but have been doing the proper thing and keeping it quiet. Anyone blaming the club for not being proactive in this respect could well be doing them a mis-service, however knowing Palace as we all do they probably have a list of candidates and tick them off one by one as they say thanks for asking, but no thanks!
