Hodgson must be backed in January or fired beforehand. We are in a perilous situation at the moment. Parish has failed to assemble a proper squad in terms of the final third, we are short not 1 or 2 but possibly 3 or 4 players. Recent signings of attackers have been seriously poor. We have no game changers or any players which can worry a defense outside of Wilf. Hodgson has failed fo adapt to the situation he finds himself in and currently we don’t have the Fulham Roy but the Harry Kane taking corners version. Not making a single change after Brighton considering the performance there and that it was 3 games in a week is criminal. Not giving Riedewald a proper chance is criminal whilst we give minutes to Puncheon. Not at least having Kaikai on the bench is criminal. After Brighton he had to make changes. He is a massive fan of inaction. Hodgson is so old fashioned and rigid with his team selections and in game management and it’s really hurting us lately. He needs a squad to work with that he actually believes in or he needs to be fired.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Sadly, SP records speaks for itself, 6 years in PL and no progress, he is obsessed about the stadium refurbishment, which will look great in the championship half empty, he has regularly botched up transfer deals that are consistently left to the last minute and then fall through. The club is toxic from within, evidenced by quality players talking to the club but then the deal never gets over the line. Freedman is the Director of Football in name only because he has done nothing to get players in, probably, he is not allowed enough rope by SP. Good previous managers have fallen out with SP. He has allowed us to drift with a paper thin squad for over two years now and without a decent striker for over 12 months and then there is just three wins this season and if we do go down he would have overseen the biggest loss in revenue in the clubs history, not a bad record I suppose? As for the other board member they are responsible for allowing him to get this far without questioning him on his performance which is at best E-. You answered your point in your first sentence. Overseeing 6 years in the Premier, which hasn’t been achieved by any previous Chairman.

There are reports on here, that Reideweld played for the U23s in the week and was terrible looked unfit and overweight. None of us watch the players train, quite obviously none impress to push for a starting place.

Supporters wish Hodgson was more flexible with his team selections and substitutions but his options are really limited with the players he has at his disposal. His hands are really tied and for that reason I have sympathy for him. Newcastle who finished 10th last season are having difficulties at present but their supporters revere Benitez and their wrath is aimed at Ashley for what they see as under-investment in their team.Newcastle's net spend in summer was £8 Mill not short of our net spend of £10 Mill.

The whole club is a bit of a mess really but I don't hold RH responsible.

Well it sums up what a number of people have been saying on here. The only bit I have issue with is the assumption that the likes of Kirby and Daly will break through into the first team. And relegation would put huge pressure on the justification for building the new stand. I'm surprised that the until now passive investors of Harris and Blitzer haven't started challenging the way Parish is running the club.

This is a really good point. Newcastle and us are in almost completely the same position but presumably because their Manager is Spanish, in his 50's and has the look of someone that knows what he's doing, is receiving none of the criticism. I remember how long people were still defending Frank De Boer last season, presumably because of the same reasons that people had been duped into thinking he was a Jose or a Pep. When you think what Roy done for us last season, after that start, there should be no questioning his ability or if he's at fault. It's obvious he achieved miracles with a very poor team that still had Cabaye, Loftus-Cheek and purely from a formation/tactic perspective, Christian Benteke. You can't ask someone to do the impossible 2 times in a row, this time with an even worse squad. The lack of respect he gets from some is astounding. He's still called 'Woy' by some on here because of his speach impedement. I've seen comments that say Roy looks like 'he doesn't know where he is', presumably because like most 71 year olds he has some wrinkles and sunken in tired eyes. Swap the 2 Manager's and I think Newcastle fans would be happy to support Roy if he done the same for them last season and lay the blame solely at the feet of Ashley. But if we had Benitez, even if we were a couple of points worse off, I don't think many would be questioning him on here.

Never heard such tosh. Every single one of our first 11 would walk into any championship squad. 5 or 6 of them would walk into most premiership teams outside the top 10. Then there's our squad players, who are also decent championship level - Punch, Riederwald, Kelly, Ward etc. Clearly you do not watch them very often, if you think three wins from 16 is good then I'm on the wrong planet, face facts we have given Soton there only win this season so far and we shipped three goal in about twenty minutes against West Ham and before that Brighton!

Very sound analysis here robdave - the midfield isn't balance and playing our wingers as forwards isn't working. time for a reset Roy Originally posted by robdave2k
Well the one saving grace is that is about £220m out of his price range. Hodgson to me just looks tired. I think the England situation damaged him. Last season he was on a hiding to nothing as we were gone. There was no expectation so it was a free shot. Much like when he took over with England. When the expectation kicks in that’s where it becomes an issue. He never fancied Zaha for England and Roy’s approach is safety first. Unfortunately sides are figuring him out. Our wingbacks are attacking and neither mark up particularly close. PVA in particular. They then have MacArthur and Meyer in front of them - not Wilf and Andros so are caught. Even Sam preferred Schlupp to PVA to start and in a side that needs to be defensively sound PVA wouldn’t be my first name on the sheet. Schlupp is a woeful footballer, but he doesn’t spend the game thinking he is a right winger when playing left back. It’s all a bit Mike Bassett. The flair players are being asked to do a job that isn’t there normal one - negating them. Meyer and MacArthur aren’t wingers. But they are being asked to do the same - now you have four players out. Luka doesn’t have Cabaye anymore and doesn’t have Meyer either as he is out of position. There is no point having two defensive midfielders if your fullbacks are being found out and things are coming from crosses.

When one purchases two forwards and wingers are preferred to them in their natural position what message does this send out to Messrs Sorloth and Ayew ? Get a Rondon type player, have Zaha and Townsend in their natural positions, bring in a player like a Fabregas or Shelvey and we would see a significant improvement.
