Apparently we had 18 shots, 5 on target, more than I remember but I was shaking my head in disbelief through most of the match, so I may have missed a few.

I think 15 of those were in the bar before the game......

I am in the freak result category. A penalty that should not have been given and then 2 goals from players who would not have been on the pitch if there had been no sending off or injury to Murray. Definitely suffered from not having a strong enough squad to rotate the players. If only to have the back up players Man City have.
I think we had 29 goal attempts against Burnley but apart from the odd one here and there not many in this game despite playing against 10 men. Brighton defended very well and gave us little or no room.
Think the Sorloth criticism is unjust. He had no service and despite his height we continued to hammer in low balls to feet which were too easily intercepted or blocked which had not worked up until then.
Whilst we looked like scoring heaps against Burnley and none against Brighton the reality is we are somewhere in between and we should be able to survive.

it was a freak result but they still outplayed us. You could see our players had their heads down and weren't ready for Brighton's pace. They generally seemed stronger and faster and got to the 50/50 balls more than us. We looked a bit rattled before they scored.

Sorloth may or may not come good. But he hasn't shown anything outside of being another player who fits the Bentecke target-man mould, albiet a poorer version who hasn't scored a single league goal yet.

Roy should play him for 90 mins for a few weeks to see what he can do though, we haven't given him a chance to prove himself yet.

All the hype about the game and we don't turn up!
And then we lose 3-1 against 10 men.
How bad does it get?
You would think that the Eagles would come out all guns blazing against the Seagulls and we surrender the game virtually from the beginning.
So disappointing when you go to see a game that had so much rivalry attached to it.
Thought our guys would bust a gut to get a result.
Should be Seagulls against the sparrows!

Let them have their shiny new toys. They will soon learn that 'all that Glisters is not Gold'. Give it a year or two and we will be back on top (and I don't mean this in a biblical sense - just to clarify Brighton boys).

Not a freak result, I think it showed a recurring pattern with our players - they have severe failings when it comes to the mental side of the game, and absolutely cannot take a game by the scruff of the neck when called upon.

Two things:

1. We lost the game because we failed to deal with the psychological impact of two shocking decisions - Tomkins (as just one example of a number of them) needed to move on, double down, look forward - he didn’t - they didn’t - from that point we were screwed - they should know better and at this level of a professional sport, it’s staggering.

2. I didn’t see a Captain, a Roy Keane, out there grabbing them by the scruff of the neck and rallying them. Nobody appeared to take that role - missed opportunity and disappointing. Do we have a player capable of influencing the rest so fundamentally?

I’m optimistic - I like watching them (most of the time).

We need a striker !

Was surprised that we started the same 11 after half time. Being 0.3 down and with us playing so awful we needed to change it around. Yes, the squad is weak but RH had a chance to change tactics by bringing on Sorloth and Ayew by replacing two midfield players and having Townshend and Zaha out wide. Could even have gone to 3 at the back against 10 men Brighton - tactics had to be changed and that was down to Hodgson. Still can’t believe that we continued to play the same way against a side down to 10 men. We scored a freak and wonder goal against Burnley. There is no way Palace will score tap ins playing with the 11 we put out once we go a goal down. The present 11 can only hit teams on the break and all the while the opponents haven’t scored we have a chance. I fear for Saturday :-(

Have a listen to RH's post match interview.

At the end someone asks a question about why he didn't change things up at half time.

He basically said because our bench is sh&&& and he has no hope whatsoever that any players on our bench can impact the game remotely enough to overhaul a 3 goal deficit.....and added "and everyone knows it" to boot.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Whilst this might be a honest assessment by Roy, although a recent thread indicated that he had commented that our striker options were fine ? did he also say that the recruits likely to come on were obtained on his watch ? my interpretation is that he isn't happy with the recruits and wants to see more cash freed up for January as clearly we have to pay for the required quality which we haven't done for a number of windows.

Roy Keane, surely the Jedi or even Damo ? Seriously though we do miss a player like that, like a lot of teams nowadays.

They were better than us ... full stop.

1. We've had four more years to settle into the PL but we hover above the drop zone for lengthy periods every season.

2. There are many players in our squad who are grossly overpaid but still don't have their hearts in our club.

3. Our board's priority seems to be the new stand. We can call it the White Elephant Stand when it goes up and we're playing in the Championship.

Jedi yes, but it was Shaun Derry that sprang to mind when thinking this through
