We should definitely look to take a player as part of the deal. Dalot or Fosu-Mensah would be fine for us. It would then mean we don't get held to ransom when trying to buy a replacement. £50 mil plus one of these would be great business. I have heard that he was very unimpressive at Fulham last season.

Finally, a real football fan. The idea that money will make up for seeing him in a United shirt and playing against us next season makes me puke. Some of our fans should just stick to playing Football Manager instead. Agreed, and frankly I don't trust SP to use the money received wisely; we don't want another Christian Benteke or Conor Wickham!

I thought he did OK when called upon when on loan with us and is still young enough to improve. Ward is solid enough, but we need to start lowering the average age in the squad and losing Aaron clearly won't help in that respect.

If United are willing to pay 50 million for AWB then we will have to snap their hand off. He is a good player but only has 18 months experience under his belt and he could be anything moving forward. It is big risk on their part as he may not fit into their style of play. Every team in the world loses their best players at some stage hence why their is a transfer market. If he goes he goes, he will be forgotten in 3 months. I would love him to stay as he is a joy to watch but I wont be crying if he leaves.

if he goes and we use some of the money on michy and keep Zaha and play them as the front two like last season it doesn't matter who plays right back we will I think be looking at top ten

I'm all for keeping him, but the hard truth is that a football club needs to be run as financially viable entity nowadays. Clubs like ours have to walk the fine line of ambition and progression by selling players on to generate income, in order to buy 'upgrades'. Then, the more success you have the More money you generate outside of player sales and the less you need to sell players. this only works, mind, if you have a decent scouting system......

Great post, clubs like us have to live within our means and buy young players or bring them through our brilliant academy and sell them for a profit. The only way that changes is if we get a multi billionaire on board.
