Hopefully the new manager doesn’t rate him and we can agree a loan with an option to buy. That was a huge mistake last season.

Not a mistake if it wasn't agreed to.

The club asking for a player isn't the A side.

It was a mistake. We should have pushed for an option to buy at the end of the loan just like Bournemouth did with Ake. At the time Chelsea may have said 20/25 mil. In today’s market that would be a snip for someone who is likely to be a regular international footballer for a large part of his career ( unless he rots in the reserves at Chelsea).

Bournemouth didn’t have an option to buy Ake at the end of the loan he didn’t even stay the length of the loan as Chelsea recalled him , they then just bought him in the summer. Chelsea had no interest in selling loftus cheek or agreeing a future fee as they had no intention of selling him , and still don’t I believe.

I stand corrected. However I would love to see RLC in a Palace shirt this seasons.

Hardly stood out tonight and he was in the first lot of subs off. That is my palace heart talking. He was probably taken off as all three CM’s came on. Still, couldn’t get past a poor Lyon side so perhaps there’s hope

@ChelseaFC

Sarri on Ruben Loftus-Cheek: 'He is potentially a great player. He has to improve from the tactical point of view but I think it's not a problem. He is very young, he can be a very useful player for us.'

That sounds a loan rather than a sale. He is not that young so that implies he is not good enough for first team currently. The tactical comment could be a slight on what Hodgson did for him

So not coming here. Or it could be his English is not all that

With Mateo Kovacic going to Chelsea as part of the Courtois deal it is another player in central midfield at Chelsea which means that RLC may be more inclined to leave to get regular football and of course Chelsea more likely to sell/loan him. I think we will try our luck at some point today.

Yay, RLC says he is going to fight for his place at Chelsea, which means he will be moving on loan within thirty seconds of this article!!

The arrival of Mateo Kovacic really does mean curtains for RLC playing chances this season.

Interesting piece on Sky

It struck me reading this that many of the descriptions of Kovacic match RLC. He's not an out and out playmaker/No 10 but not really got the strongest defensive attributes. He works in our set up as Roy plays/likes wide non-winger midfielders.

If the boy had any sense he's gotta move but I'm not sure he has. He has the skills to make it but if he aint playing...
