In Europe it is not unusual for a manager to inherit a backroom staff. Little Sam and the rest of the crew all need jobs and as Allardyce has quit, I would imagine providing they can work with the new boss, be happy to stay. If it is Silva we could quite easily see him and a right hand man turn up but the rest of the backroom staff are what's there now. it would certainly be a shame to lose them. I would be surprised if this is the case.

I would be surprised if this is the case. It won't be, will it? We all know that it doesn't work like that. When the Pharaoh goes the servants are entombed with him. Millen was a bit of an exception, but he did finally get the bullet. Whoever is appointed will want their own team, and anyway, we all know that Sam's going to fetch up somewhere, sooner or later, with his old crew on board. Edited by bexleydave (26 May 2017 1.54pm)

Edited by bexleydave (26 May 2017 1.54pm) In the UK yes but less so in Europe, just as in Europe managers often have limited input on player purchases though this obviously will invariably involve a DoF. Equally if a manager has been sacked e.g. Rainieri, a lot of his Leicester backroom staff are still in situ I have no idea whether it would happen in this case but if we are going foreign, the manager may well be more open to it.

But we're not in Europe (quite literally fairly soon), we don't have a Director of Football, as far as we're aware our managers do have a say in the players we sign and Ranieri hasn't been appointed anywhere yet and it may well be another story when he is. Plus, anyone who really believes that Sam has gone from football for good is kidding themselves, so any of his muckers who are still here will be gone by January.

A few reports Silva is signing a 2 year deal this afternoon. If it's true, what is going on to have the media report on Allardyce and Silva before the club have announced it?

As far as I'm aware (and I just checked), there's not a single RELIABLE source making any announcement about Silva. It was most likely Allardyce that gave The Sun that 'exclusive'.
