Whether we get him or not - there is little doubting CPFC's commitment and growth in testicles this season about getting serious in the PL. This a real move forward from the last 2 PL preseasons and I suspect our USA affiliation may have something to do with it. I am ecstatic about this change in mindset! We were lucky IMO not to have got relegated every season constantly punching above our weight, but now this is what I wanted to see, a move away from the decades old 2nd/3rd division mindset. Hope there's an alternate if we decide not to get Benteke - but great to see them raising their bid as you simply have to pay the money to play with the big boys. Fantastic.

Really dont feel comfortable about this guy,Liverpool dont want him,dont see a mad rush from other clubs,yet he is haggling,you would think he would jump at the chance of Premiership football playing regularly in a Palace side,If he doent want it tell him we are not interested,and look elsewhere,possibly a some what cheaper option,If he doesnt want Palace ,we dont want him!!!

Reading between the lines, it seems to me that Palace and Liverpool have agreed the final fee which has allowed Palace to speak to the player. Whilst that is happening the two clubs are negotiating the structure of the fee payments.

I recon this will get done soon. Surely we wouldn't have sold gayle and left ourselves with only 2 strikers on the books if we didn't have a couple of pretty solid targets and we had certain assurances that we could acquire replacements. Once we get benteke in we need to get some other strikers remember!

Meh. I can't recall any cases of a deal falling through once image rights were the only thing holding it up.
