Do you think George Burley by taking the Palace job was on a hiding to nothing,in much the same way Alan Smith was the last time we came out of administration? Decimated squad,no coaching staff, embargo,it would take one hell of a manager to turn it all around in six months.
Quote from George Burley, sounds quite decimated to me. Most managers want to change the coaching staff when they come in and get their own people so this would surely have been a benefit , actually George was happy to have dougie. Then we lost two players from the end of the season that were regulars that we couldnt prevent the others leaving were GB's choice . Not much to ask your new manager is it ? to replace two players ? I'm not sure that's fair. Warnock couldn't put out a full subs bench at the end of last year and relied on Derry playing every match. Losing Moses and Fonte was already a big blow, Derry was more than just a player to lose - he was captain and midfield rock, add to that John and Ertl, Lawrence now being 36, Scannell ruled out through injury, and Ambrose out injured for most of the games. You can say other clubs have a smaller wage bill, but the players in those clubs have had a lot longer to gel and find their shape. I think it is a fair argument that Burley was working with an incomplete squad, and a totally uncompetitive midfield, Having said that, Burley did have time to replace Derry and he failed to do it. 'totally uncompetitive midfield' ??????

Would you bring a manager to this club even if the fans were against his being appointed? Dowie.

I would just like to get my 2 pence worth in and say to Steve, please can you do everything you can (excpet breaking the bank) to get Jordan Rhodes I saw the kid play a couple of times for Ipswich including his last ever game for them against Colchester in a pre-season friendly and he was immense. I couldn't actually believe it when Ipswich sold him. I've ben proven right as well as he has absolutely banged them in for Huddersfield. Thanks

On this Short Short List, does that mean you have someone lined up? Is it worth us having a fiver on Chris Houghton? Also Danny Joslyn says hello!

He has already set up a shortlist and is working on it. What do you want him to do? Talk to managers behind his current manager's back? Seriously?! This is exactly what a responsible chairman of any business would do. I'm afraid in the real world mitigating risk comes a long way before personal niceties.

Considering you said it was not a knee-jerk reaction, do you not feel it was a bit naive to sack George without anyone lined up?

By "sufficient funds" i meant enough to buy proven championship players so lets say 1-2 million? Secondly, i think Hughton would be a great appointment but i am not sure how likely that will be. Do you want to have a manager in place by the Cov/Swansea game?
He's a great character with recent experience of this league and management. Lets not go for someone who has been out of the job for a while... We need a manager sooner rather than later i think.
