Don't you think it had something to do with a raging pandemic with people getting infected and dying in large numbers? Voting by post clearly avoided large queues and less risk so no surprise such large nos chose to do it.

For example in many northern towns, the local Mosque will 'co-ordinate' postal votes. It is why Labour are so in debt to the Muslim vote and in a large part, why the grooming scandals were brushed aside for decades. They are the most direct way of corrutping the process. If you cannot accept that then there is no point in discussing it with you. The Democrats gamed the system big time. Organised huge amounts of postal votes, of which up to 70-80% went in their favour. It stinks, it really does. But Biden 'won'. He needed a massive pandemic to do so along with a main-stream media essentially acting as an electoral asset for the Democrats and even then it was a bloody close run thing. For a 'racist' President, Trump got a lot of non-whites to vote for him. Biden will be the next President of the US. Congratulations. But it is a pyrrhic victory. Leaves the US even more divided than before and in the hands of people essentially bought and paid for by the corporations. Nothing good is going to come with this.

Just plain common sense, I think you have won the most sensible post of the thread award nead! I wonder if "the don" had won, would anybody be moaning about postal voting? Maybe another election as he got all the postal votes? It smacks of sour losers i"m afraid, something I can understand as I do want the cup final replayed and hope my fellow hol posters will join my petition, that first goal that wasn"t? Smokin Joe won, "the don" lost, get over it peoples and come out and vote in 4 years if you don"t like the outcome!(usa posters only jim)

I do agree with this - but ultimately it comes down to what’s worse - people not being able to vote at all, or a portion of the postal demographic being coerced to vote... Note this abuse/pressure/coercion is very different from what was (it’s definitely past tense now) being claimed occurred by the trumpers. Badger is certainly a principled exception to the rule, but peoples ability to see or imagine the imperfect in election process is largely dependent on the result of said election. Same for both parties. Nevertheless, I'm glad that we have finally found an irrefutable instance of election interference [Link] . I was beginning to think it was all conspiracy theories!

The Georgia run-offs are looking very finely balanced with almost 50% of the vote in (NY Times current final result estimate) [Link] I fully expected Republicans to walk these, but the odds have shifted over the past week or two. Trump causing ructions within his own party as well as questioning the validity and point of voting may well tip the delicate balance. If so, what a considerate parting gift! Still, it's not over til the fat lady sings.

I saw a tweet from Biden yesterday saying that: In America, politicians can't assert, take, or seize power. George Washington and the founding fathers might not agree with that opinion.

Most of those who support the Democrats aren't that interested in the US to actually know how it came about. Biden will say literally whatever he thinks his side want to hear.....and if he has enough drugs pumped into him it might even be coherent.

We will see how much 'healing' goes on in this next few months...probably starting today. I suspect the 'healing' concept won't age well. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Jan 2021 12.07pm)
