Just seen this one hour Horizon programme on Covid-19. Well worth watching. Pretty much all you need to know. The problem with herd immunity with some of the population vaccinated is that we don’t know how long natural immunity lasts for. Probably a minimum of 3 months but we’d probably need it for long enough to kill the virus off. It looks like we got a glimpse of the graphs the government looked at implementing various partial closures of schools and work etc.

That’s true but according to the experts a vaccine either will or won’t be developed in 6, 12 or 18 months. The spike is either past, present or in the future. Herd immunity either is or isn’t a possibility. Catching the virus either does or doesn’t provide immunity. Lockdown was either a good or a bad idea. Masks either should or shouldn’t be worn. Hospitals either do or don’t have any spare capacity. Apart from a few other contentious points they’re in complete agreement. Yeah. Watch the Horizon programme. Don’t count on anything is what you can take from it. Everything is being done by everyone qualified around the world, but nothing is guaranteed. Fvcking hell.

There’s also some bizarre points made that there was nothing to worry about. If you look at how Sweden have behaved without a lockdown and how we did then they’ll realise why it was necessary to buy time and keep capacity there in the NHS if it was needed. The fact it wasn’t used isn’t a reason to prove a point. In the near future or within 3 months of lockdown we should get the country back to work, elderly and vulnerable stay in and supermarkets have to deliver to those groups only. No deliveries to anybody else. I’m irritated at tweets of people talking about getting a delivery slot, including famous people. What else have they got to do 7 days a week till 10pm that means they can’t queue? Consequently people and families shielding don’t eat, and the supermarkets haven’t done much to solve this, and we know why. ££££££.

Apparently there’s lots of people driving this week and milling about in parts of London. I drove out Thursday and the more you go towards Croydon, the more people in pairs or small groups you see who obviously aren’t living together.

Trump now has a cure. Inject yourself with disinfectant and bathe in UV light. If that’s not a way to dent your election hopes by killing off your supporter base I don’t know what is

I couldn’t believe one of the blokes in my road yesterday evening, just before the applause for NHS staff, he was out selling his car to 3 blokes, all getting in and out the car, shaking hands, laughing and joking. Eventually one went in his house presumably to conclude the deal. Totally irresponsible and self serving

The USA is a whole different scenario! I am lucky and have a garden which fronts a lane which is on a very popular route for people taking their daily exercise. Just about all want to stop, chat, make sure all is OK and offer help where needed. Nice post Wissie, sums up many people’s thoughts. Make sure you stay safe and we can resume “hostilities” at a later date 😉. My one criticism of your post is your obsession with USA, maybe take a break and concentrate on keeping you and your family well.
