And that wouldn't have happened had it not been for the intervention of the US investors telling SP to pay the asking price (and that was from the horse's mouth). And this surprises you? Of course a Palace chairman is going to be hesitant over dropping £30 mill on a player. It's unchartered territory for a club like us.

SP would probably prefer Dyce as he would be easier to control and less demanding on Transfer budgets I disagree. Dyche has been used to autonomy at Burnley and probably wouldn't want to move to a club with such a hands on chairman and if he is so undemanding on transfer budgets why bother leaving his cozy current position unless it's purely for money and everyone seems to agree that's the wrong reason

There clearly is no smoke without fire as the press are also reporting a dispute between SP and the Americans, the latter are supposed to want FdV and SP Dyce, SP would probably prefer Dyce as he would be easier to control and less demanding on Transfer budgets where as Fdv would probably be the opposite, we shall have to wait and see but time is running out and we are now losing valuable time and missing out in the transfer market

No one disputes what you are saying principle but the PL brand is much more of an asset than the championship brand and all Directors have a duty to protect that come what may, delaying the appointment due to as the press are reporting a dispute between SP and the Americans is harming the club as we are losing time in preparing the team for next season and more importantly we are not active in the transfer market and are losing opportunities. as I understand the situation SP/Harris & Blitzer have 18% shareholding each and the three other co-owners share 46%, so the Americans will be flexing their muscles as clearly they do not want a repeat of last season or put our PL status at risk because SP wants to save money to invest in updating the ground which will be useless if end up doing a Sunderland because of lack of investment in the team. most people accept SP and his other co-directors have in the past done a great job but it the future that is important now!

I am both amazed and perplexed by the length of time this appointment is taking. I get that there was probably no 'plan B' in place given that Sam's resignation was so unexpected but 3 weeks later and no announcement....quite incredible. Most people of experience in the football world I.e. Ferguson etc could tell you during a telephone conversation the suitability of any British manager and possibly some foreign ones. This would have reduced any short list and with it the time factor involved. It seems that we have started with a blank canvas.

I doubt that being able to manage on budget would be a selling point to us, a club with the 25th highest wage bill in the world.
