Honestly? Jezza wants a society with less inequality.Do I believe he honestly and consistently believes in that and espouses that? Sure do. As for "achievements",I don't think that's the road to go down when we are discussing honesty and probity...after all,Mussolini made the trains run on time and Hitler built the autobahns and Stalin the Moscow metro..The fullness of time will reveal how much of an "achievement" Brexit will be viewed as historically.. As for Nige's political "honesty",the campaign (which he won, sure) was dishonest and hack like in the extreme.. Nige is an archetypal politician..only difference is you agree with what he says rather than disagree... The last paragraph could be easily flipped and pinned on Jezza. Just because you have swallowed Jezza's 'message', don't make it right and as you have stopped questioning him and his many failings, suggests you want to believe he is the second coming. Nigel is what he is. But he spoke for a heck of a lot of the people and achieved his stated goal in politics. Jezza is sadly lacking on both counts.

You mean, like campaigning against the EU for all of your political career and then suddenly becoming a convert to Remain because your colleagues insisted on it? Quite. It doesn't stop there. After advocating an open door policy to immigration, Jezza now favours 'managed migration'. He flipped this week on maximum pay. Integrity? Yeah right.

Not sure you actually read my posts before kneejerking. I made clear I am not Jezza's biggest fan.I also made clear I think they are both hacks. Jezza doesnt speak for a lot of people in wanting a better NHS ,unlike health privatisation Nige when he's (rarely) being honest, and reducing inequality? Well,if you're right,we really are heading downwards at a rate of knots and soon entering iceberg territory. As to achievements, wasn't the Titanic lauded as an amazing achievement when it came into service..before then lurching into Titexit? In the idiocy stakes, let's just as a random example look at dear Nige's stated belief that carrying handguns should re made legal....truly a fast track to the promised land,no? Your saviour is a mere political hack, like the rest of them and for all Jezza's (many) faults someone IMHO of less personal integrity than Jezza. Jezza may be ineffectual and a naff as a leader (just my view) but passionate in his primary beliefs (tho a hack like all others including Nige) and at root a sincere guy? Undoubtedly. I think that's right you are not a dictator as opposition leader if you are good you will see which way the argument is going and if necessary, adjust.

Edited by legaleagle (13 Jan 2017 9.27am) You believe he is 'sincere'. I disagree. He has flip flopped on Europe. He has cotowed to a rather sinister group in Momentum to keep his grip on power. He has curtailed free speech in his Party. Straight talking politics? If you wish to believe that, go ahead.

That wasn't the only time Nigel has been honest. I believe he was honest when we said that a 52% / 48% referendum result would not be definitive. However that was when he thought he would LOSE by that margin. As for Corbyn I think he was sincere when he opposed the Irish peace process. I just think he was wrong. It is very easy being a professional oppositionist. Being in government is rather harder. As the Lib Dems found out

Labour continues to struggle to build support among voters as aides try to revitalise Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership by capitalising on his radical credentials, according to the latest research for the Observer. What the fcuk might they be?
