Almost 100% would be my guess. With a corresponding rise in domestic violence.

Nowhere near 100%. The percentage of drinking in pubs was very low to begin with. The people who drank a bit or a lot at home now drink more. Quite a bit more.

It’s not low at Scottish prices.

Yup said that the other day. Hopefully the feasting will be distanced after dark. If not you are correct. Expect a spike. I hope they use cutlery and not their fingers.

Probably at a very low rate.

You would think we could off set some of that by buying oil at the negative prices and storing it until all of our storage facilities are at full capacity but it's never that simple.

GDP in 2019 was £2.2 trillion.

The 4 month lockdown is 10% of DGP.
The 8 month lockdown is 22% of DGP.

On top of the debt close to £2 trillion already.
Then the usual borrowing after Covid.

But it’s the tax revenue that’s important. Try paying all that back with low revenue. Italy, Spain and France could go off the scale. EU talking today.

If supermarkets were prioritising to the elderly and vulnerable (people with low immune systems) they’d find their alcohol sales would fall instantly. But alcohol is revenue above the essential food spend so don’t expect that to happen unless they’re made to and even then it’s unlikely to happen.

Nonsense, us oldies know that there's not much that can't be got through with a large glass of Bombay Sapphire or a bottle or 3 of decent red

Including, Spain and Italy, they sensibly took up the offer that our own government failed to respond to, do you fancy a warehouse or three full of PPE for our hospitals and carehomes? We are based in the midlands and ready to deliver, anyone in the government interested? Matt? Anybody? Ah ok, we have to shift it to europe then............SOLD! I guess matt and co thought there was no rush....only buy from the centre of our island in a real emergency, much better pr to send out the raf to Turkey on a mission.....ooops
