To divert onto “border control” rhetoric is pure whataboutery. Whataboutery? Your DeSantis point is whataboutery. The point is that immigration controls are not being enforced and all that DeSantis is doing is shipping the immigrants that the Democrats want into their rich Democratic areas. He is giving them what they want....they are the human tripe that only want the poor working class to receive any negatives from immigration while they receive only the benefits.....ie a larger Democratic voting base and lower wages. They don't care about a lack of social cohesion because only the rich get to live among themselves and have the means to not rely or have to trust neighbours....they can 'buy' in loyalty. None of them have to live cheek to cheek with the realities of life. They don't care about crime because they get to gate their communities and house price partition is its own filter. These people are incredibly hypocritical and deserve everything that is coming to their areas.

Quite but I was actually thinking about the big fuss they made about the border wall and when Trump was locking kids in immigration centres. All of this happened under Obama and and the wall is still there and they are still locking kids up under Biden. The idea that the Democrats are blameless and it's only the republicans making political capital out of these unfortunates is plain nonsense. The Democrats are playing this because they know its popular with the immigrant communities. As the quote goes: If the left didn't have double standards, they would have no standards at all.

By seeking to introduce the way the Democrats behave, by parroting the nonsense coming from the right in the USA, it’s you who are trying to diverti the focus. If you want to stat another “let’s bash the Democrats thread” fine. This is about the inhuman behaviour of the populist wannabe DeSantis. How to deal with the humanitarian needs of often desperate people ought to be above politics,

Exactly the idea that "the other side" doesn't play political games is nonsense and any one who thinks that is just wearing rose tinted glasses. Or as I like to say "The only reason the opposition is upset about graft and corruption is because they are not getting any of it".

Oh, I know that the political world is dirty, but from all I can see the Democrats handle this extremely difficult situation with much more compassion than does the Trumpist right of the Republicans, whose approach is to fuel the prejudices of their "base". From what I read, many of these migrants quietly make their own way to the wealthier cities to find work, and don't need a political stunt to achieve it.

Sanctuary cities ban state employees e.g. local police from assisting the legal federal authorities (immigration) in their legal duties. That's not playing games...

It’s exercising their lawful discretion within their own jurisdiction. They aren’t stopping the federal authorities performing their duties. They are just asking them to do their job on their own. I don’t imagine this actually happens now that we have a Democrat administration. It was very much a reaction to heavy handed actions when Trump sat at the top.

It's one thing to turn a blind eye to illegal immigrants in your area it's quite another to actual refuse to assist federal law enforcement.

Here's the latest on Russiagate and the 'Steele Dossier'. Russiagate, that conspiracy theory that Maple's granite shoreline pushed on Hol for years. There needs to be persecutions of those that pushed these lies within the agencies and that looks like it's happening. If the Republicans get in 2024 there needs to be a proper cleaning house this time around. Not just slogans but a clear out of these corrupt liars.
