Oh hang on…….!!!

That's not tackling it at source! It's an attempt at containment. An attempt that's bound to fail and ultimately make things worse. Stoking up trouble behind the wall, is like building a dam to control the flow but then turning it off completely, so that eventually the water overflows elsewhere.

It seems these migrants were made promises and then forcibly removed. This is DeSantis playing politics with people, which is not a great idea at all.

Unless I am misinformed, we already have a policy of dispersal. How you ensure people stay where they are taken is another matter. If they have relatives or friends, they tend to gravitate towards them.

How many arrive in Truro, I don't know. What I do know is that there is a centre here where the newly arrived can be helped to learn English, and English customs, to assist them to assimilate. With the huge numbers of health care workers now arriving from Africa, now they don't from the EU, this is a very important resource.

And of course Democrats would never do that

The countries they come from need to take some responsibility surely; but they won’t if the door is left open to assuage them of any responsibility. Lots of these countries have had financial and other help and all that’s happened is it’s been skimmed off and f*** the minions. A bit like our welfare system; abused to hell because they never get told NO help yourselves first.

I doubt there is an easy solution.

The real issue is that these people live in sh*t countries with corrupt or incompetent governments. Unless the west is prepared for another wave of empire building and take over the running of these countries I doubt there is much they can do except build walls and fences.

Throwing money at these countries hasn't worked, Africa has had billions since the 1960's and very little has changed for the good. Politicians can talk about reparations / education / investing but these are just buzz words because they don't have an answer.

Every time there is a disaster the people who are supposed to help their own people are creaming the money off that the much despised west has sent.

I wish I could give you a solution because I don't have one so until someone does we have to push back which is unfortunate for the people at the bottom but who ever said life was fair.

The history of the west teaches us one thing what ever problems we had in the past we fixed them ourselves e.g. democracy grew out of tyranny and civil wars.

The rest of the world will probably have to help themselves but why bother when you can pay 15k and get a dinghy to a country which has already done that.

What have the Democrats got to do with this?

Attempted "whataboutism" at best.

Whatever help has been given so far is clearly insufficient. If you have ever witnessed first hand, as I have, a country which is corrupt to the core, you will understand how corrosive it is and how difficult to eradicate. Complaining it's "skimmed off" solves nothing. It will be, until it isn't. It takes generations and determination to build economies, but unless you do, your own problems will go on getting worse.

Quite incredible.

They are the party of government, and they aren't enforcing border controls.

At least you recognise the depth of the problem. Unless the USA, and us too, accept that if we cannot solve the problems at source, we will continue to also have problems at home, these discussions will continue into infinity.

So we must solve the problems. I won't witness it in my lifetime, but it will happen.

It isn't for western man to solve problems in other countries.

This kind of crap is what got us into trouble in the first place.

Every lefty who wants immigration...especially the wealthy ones should live with that immigration.

DeSantis is doing god's work and even working class Democrats are enjoying these rich hypocrites getting to live with their principles.

Fill more planes....and watch that low life sell up.

Quite but I was actually thinking about the big fuss they made about the border wall and when Trump was locking kids in immigration centres. All of this happened under Obama and and the wall is still there and they are still locking kids up under Biden.

The idea that the Democrats are blameless and it's only the republicans making political capital out of these unfortunates is plain nonsense.

The Democrats are playing this because they know its popular with the immigrant communities.

The comment was directed at the way the populist DeSantis is using people to enhance himself. Which has nothing to do with the Democrats doing anything at all.

To divert onto “border control” rhetoric is pure whataboutery.
