A bit of a curve ball, but when one reads what MG has to say about the way he lives his life as a committed Christian and as the son of a church minister, I believe there is no way on Earth he would ever "refuse to play" or otherwise fail to honour his contract. So that possibility can, in my opinion, be discounted.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I think Richards is better than Guehi, and if Guehi is that good, why is it only Newcastle seem to be bidding for him.

Or based on your opinion why is NO ONE bidding for Richards?

A contract is binding. If a club feels it's in their best interests to sell a player, then that is what they will do. They are under no obligation to do so.
In the rare instance where a player refuses to play or train to force a move, he can be fined or be relegated to the reserves, or even banished from the club's premises altogether. He would then be liable for a claim of compensation for breach of contract. In that situation, the club might either hold him to his contract or sell him to ensure a financial return.

Those are the facts.

In the case of Guehi, there is no indication that he would be a problem were a move not to materialise.

One pretty big fact though is a club Palace's size cannot aford to have a £70m asset sulking. We need the player at his best or we need the money. Forcing a player to stay against his will leaves you with neither.
I'm not suggesting Guehi wants to leave (especially not for a team like Newcastle who can offer little more than we can) Marc is I'm told a lovely lad who works very hard and is a true professional. I dont believe he would ask to leave. Parish has indicated he wont either.
If say Real Madrid made a bid just below what we want though Parish would have a problem. This would be a once in a life time opportunity that would turn any players head. And yes, during the Euros Madrid were looking at Marc Guehi so its not as far fetched as it sounds.

He's on Sky at 5pm so let's see what the man himself says.

Why should they, its only Guehi & Andersen of interest. What has Richards got to do with this thread?

I have no idea why.

Like Howe has stated, he now has a team that only a small percent of players are guaranteed to improve. Guehi is one of them, if they want him then they pay the market price which is 60 minimum.

Firstly, who gives a s*** what Geordies think.

If you were to sell players on the basis that they might get injured, then you might as well sell the whole squad now, just in case.
I'm sure you will see Guhei move on if Newcastle come in with a much higher offer. Then you will be happy, and we will sign someone else who is not as good.

If Guehi stays, I'm sure he will continue to play well for Palace because he will want to sustain his reputation.

you need to know when to sell and when to buy, i can understand that Parish wants as much as he can, but if he is at the club after the window shuts, IMO he has made a mistake

Guehi could have killed the speculation stone dead in his interview by stating unequivocally, ‘I’m staying.’

He chose not to do so.

He said he’s happy at Palace and that it’s a good place to be and he’s concentrating on the game at the weekend.

In my view he will be gone by the close of this transfer window.

He will be gone if an offer that interest us comes in, if these silly undervalue bids are offered his staying put.
