Goes to the tournament without a fit left back.
Leaves his left sided midfielders/wingers on the bench.
Plays Foden out of position.
Plays Kane despite there being something wrong with him - so it appears.
Despite every expert shouting to play Rice & Bellingham together with Foden at 10, he ignores the thought.
Plays a right back in midfield.
Realised that was a fail but only gave CG 45 mins before hauling him off.
Subs him for another of the same cogs.
Moves the right back to left back so he can bring another right back on.
Will not change line up of tactics because this one works - no, it doesn't.
Cannot see how slow we pass the ball.
I didn't think he was this bad but he is.
Don't agree with the cup throwing though - poor show.
Players are being badly let down by an inept Manager and coaching staff.

Probably explains why Bellingham is sulking. The Scots don't have the players so their fans maybe upset but it's not like they have a few worldies warming the bench. Southgate has no excuses criminal waste of talent.

Although the expected goals stats over England's group games are dismal the fact that France (who look to have the best players on paper) failed to win their group means the draw has opened up for England. I think Spain (who look like the best team so far) France, Germany, and Portugal are now all in the same part of the draw.
The teams so far in England's 1/2 are Switzerland and Italy who play each other and will potentially be England's opponents if we beat one of the best third placed teams (hopefully not the Netherlands who looked dangerous against France) The other team through at this stage are Austria.
Let's hope we can find some improvement as there are not going to be a better chance of reaching the final with this draw.

If only I had a pound for every time this has been said in past tournaments!

It's actually another way of saying that we aren't good enough.

Bellingham looks like he is having a major sulk.
Foden is being played out of position.
Mainoo looked good as did Palmer and Gordon (for 5 minutes).
Stick Wharton in there with them and we may just have half a chance of progressing.
More likely though there will be no changes.
Felt sorry for Gallagher. He should of ignored orders and played his own game.

I think Foden is sulking. Him and Bellingham need to be rested ( and possibly Kane) but will never happen. Don’t expect to see Wharton or Eze again this tournament

Agreed. I can't blame the players they look really pissed off.

I think Kane has shown his limitations, unless England are making lots of chances for him he is a passenger. I would prefer Watkins to play as he can sprint beyond the defence he may not score but I think he will work the back four harder.

And so the end is nigh for southgate.

He doesnt help himself and last night was pretty much a build up of all the wrong decisions hes been making.

Alas, top of the group and so called 'easier' side of the draw without playing well at all.

Things can only get better? right? RIGHT?

Before the commencement of the tournament, I averred that I had no confidence whatsoever that the outcome for England would be positive and that Southgate would 'Fall on his sword' as soon as the team had been ignominiously eliminated.

His contract expires in December but I certainly do not envisage him being in situ until then.

It's always the same with football where the responses veer at will from
"Stop complaining. We got a point and this is a results business"
to
"We deserve to earn so much because we're in the entertainment business"
None of it probably matters if they can scrape through since that's all anyone remembers after a short while but it was disappointing last night that Southgate didn't at least try a few changes when we'd already gone through.

I accept that we had already qualified for the knock-out stages, however it was important that England finished top of the group in terms of progression and a win of course would have guaranteed this outcome.

That's true but if the squad players aren't thought good enough to beat Slovenia then their selection is questionable in the first place. We didn't need wholesale changes but he could at least had had a look at different players - when will he get another chance?

So after a nights rest, and initial anger has passed...

We're through the group. The Group stage is one that garners some different pressures, where draws 'are good enough', and this can be restrictive.
It's now knockout football. Draws are no good. Penalties are risky.
We should expect Belgium and Netherlands to end up in our half too, So although the easier half, there's still dangerous teams. Add Austria to that list - they've been the surprise package of the tournament. Italy are always dangerous, and the swiss are no pushovers.
I hope now that the group stage mentality is over, we will see more from england.

I also hope we get to play the Dutch in last 16, as that could be a really entertaining game. no idea who will win it.

am I positive? no. I can see us bumbling through to the semis and losing to Austria.

Southgate of course would have known that a win would have guaranteed finishing top of the group and I suspect he was not in "Have a look at fringe player" mode, deciding to select his tried and trusted more experienced players.

We all know that 'Plan A' was not working accordingly with both England and Denmark drawing 0-0 in the later stages of the games he decided to introduce Gordon and Palmer both inexperienced at this level. He of course brought on Mainoo at half-time as Gallagher failed to deliver and a change was necessary.

Fans & pundits all saying that Southgate's Plan A hasn't worked & that he's played 3 different midfielders alongside Rice & it still hasn't worked. Why not drop Rice, as he seems to be the common denominator as to why the midfield isn't working. Just a thought.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.
