The one I find odd is Ekitike. If reports are to be believed we almost got him on loan in the summer. If new reports are to be believed PSG are offering him around. If this is all true, what has changed between the summer and now that is stopping us trying to get him?

Secondly, Roy seemingly made clear our priority was replacing Doucoure, but we haven't done that. Wharton is not a defensive midfielder. Was Kalvin Philips the only option open? Surely there must be another proper defensive midfielder out there available for a short-term loan?

If Wharton and Munoz are our only signings we have at least improved our squad, but there are still questions, questions, questions.

It should be noted that in his short career with Blackburn he has spent most of his time in a DM position.

Everything I've heard about him is that he is better going forward than defending and that he would really be better in Lerma's position than sitting in front of the backline. This is all second-hand though (such as local journalist on FYP podcast last night and comments from Blackburn's manager). Maybe the club do see him as filling the gap left by CD. His stats are impressive all over the pitch, so whatever he's been brought in to do I'm happy.

Box to box. We will have to improve his defence. Keeps giving the ball away in very dangerous positions apparently.

Ekitike situation is very odd. If I'm honest I'd presume he'd expect better than Palace. (currently being talked about in a sway deal for Rashford)

But he's not even made the bench since the end of August so isn't even close to being in PSG's plans.

I don't think we'll sign anyone else now to be honest. Munoz and Wharton are great purchases but we're so desperately short on the left side in both defence and attack. Not strengthening in that area is footballing self harm.

Would be very happy to be proved wrong but just can't see it now.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

He's just agreed to go to Frankfurt on loan with a mandatory buy clause. I think this is why we didn't go in for him. PSG are obviously looking to sell him now and their price is 30mil+ add ons. They wouldn't have just accepted a straight forward loan at this stage.

On the assumption that Muñoz, Wharton and either Cornet or another forward join then it would seem to make sense for Ahamada, Franca and Ozoh to go out on loan.
Such signings move them further down the pecking order than they already are so they may as well go and play first team football and gain valuable experience than being benchwarmers (and maybe not even that as the likes of Schlupp are likely to be preferred on the bench).

Sorry, I missed this last night, no I don’t.

Well, as they used to say on stingray, anything can happen in the next half hour

Who’d have thought Palace would be the biggest spender in the January transfer window? Definitely didn’t expect a right back and midfielder as permanent signings so pretty happy tonight

Pleased we have addressed the right back role (eventually) and good to see another young talent join.
However, not sure how much of a role Wharton will have play this season and still suspect we are going to be relying on Schlupp at left wing times this season.
Needed a wide left forward.
Injuries to our Olise and Eze and we could still be in trouble.
Yet again issues where the can has been kicked down the road.
Getting another attacking option of loan should have been a priority as well.
