Zzzzzz. In my life, no one knows who the feck you are. I don't find myself talking about people I disagree with on political threads on football forums. Much in the same way I don't find myself stumbling onto gay nudist beaches. Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Oct 2022 11.40pm)

Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Oct 2022 11.40pm) When I have visited Menorca, I have visited some beaches not labelled as "Nudist", however I have witnessed a sprinkling of those exposing their private parts. As I imagine you have had extensive holiday experience around the world Willo, where would you say had the best beaches?

You seem to here, where insult and personal criticism routinely replace addressing the subject whenever your balloon gets pricked. When I discuss the impact of the internet on the way opinions are formed, using an example of someone you have encountered on the internet is the only relevant personal experience. Don't flatter yourself. It's the only time you get mentioned. The only reason anyone doesn't stumble over anything is that they don't stretch their horizons enough. The very essence of stumbling over something is that it is a surprise. All those who wander are not lost. Apparently, even Willo wanders from time to time! You may find more than an eyeful that makes you feel embarrassed.

I guess they wanted to avoid any possibility of any more negative publicity, having had quite a lot. Apologies he was a trustee. I would be very surprised ifthey were unaware of his attendance 11 years ago, Either they don’t do due diligence or they were more than happy to be associated with someone with disgraceful views Edited by Spiderman (08 Oct 2022 9.20am) Edited by Spiderman (08 Oct 2022 9.22am)

I recently mentioned Menorca and I am reliably informed there are 131 beaches on this pretty and verdant island. Some of the beaches are not easily accessible by car with one having to park and then engage in a trek which of course is not possible for those with mobility issues. In mainland Spain, my thoughts turn to the extensive beach at Guardamar which is south of Alicante. I have also been fortunate to feel the sand on some delightful beaches in Grenada, Jamaica and on other Caribbean Islands. In Australia I have visited Manly in Sydney, Foresters Beach on the Central Coast,Surfers paradise and others but there are renowned beaches in this country, and in Tasmania which as yet I haven't had the pleasure of visiting.Only viewed Bondi Beach from a vehicle and I was none too impressed. For avoidance of doubt, I have NOT been de-robed on any of these beaches ! Edited by Willo (08 Oct 2022 9.30am)

At the very least this is a competency issue.

Trustees are, so far as I am aware, unremunerated volunteers, whose only role is to sign official papers, and deal with the distribution of assets in the event of a wind-up. I don't suppose that an interview was required. They play no role in determining policy, or in the daily work, unless they also have another role within the organisation. In most cases an organisation is pleased to have found someone to take on the role. Yes, he resigned, but no doubt was asked to or be removed. Less stigma in resigning.

You have a funny view of Trustees. I think the clue is in the name. They are supposed to protect the organisation it doesn't matter if they are paid or not. My friend is a Trustee of a school she has just had to renew her CRB check (it's not called that). I think most of us would agree that it is right and proper. So yes they should have done their due diligence.

So yes they should have done their due diligence. In the club I belong to, the Trustees play no active role at all and never meet. Very occasionally they will sign paperwork to avoid the need to collect the signatures of every member. Their function is primarily as a back-up should the club fold. So I think it depends on the sector. Trustees of charities seemingly have a wider role, but are still unpaid volunteers and not involved in the daily activity. There's not enough of them, and they are much in demand. Why a school would ask for a CRB on someone without any direct involvement with the children beats me. I didn't think even the Governors were expected to have to do that. It seems overcautious. How extensive an interview process goes on will, I suspect, depend on the organisation. Given the shortages of volunteers, they may have been very happy to have found a willing one.
