I have nothing to base this on other than a gut feeling but I think there may have been more behind the Jake O'Brien transfer than we were told. Maybe a favour returned but like I said I don't know. When Textor joined I was really pleased. He made all the right noises. The reality has been a bit of a disappointment in my opinion. Harris & Blitzer have spent a lot of time sniffing around other clubs (Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd that I have heard about but could be more). Is it too much to hope they are now looking at Palace with fresh eyes and seeing that if we are backed a bit we could be a force next season? You would hope so. Many of the so called bigger clubs in the PL or the sleeping Giants in the Championship are up to their ears in debt. There is no guarantee of getting out of the Championship and even staying in the PL as many clubs has shown is very hard. * The more prominent PL clubs now come with a premium and as the Everton owner has shown despite his millions there is no guarantee of success. On the other hand Harris and Blitzer actually own a PL club which is on the way up, debts are under control and they got it fairly cheaply. I don't see the point in dumping Palace for any but the best PL clubs. They might as well invest some money in us. *I thought I read somewhere that since we have been back in the PL all the other clubs promoted since then have been relegated at least once? Its taken us a long time to stop being a yo yo club. Edited by Badger11 (26 May 2024 6.03pm)

Palace, thank goodness, have not delivered to Textor what he hoped. A way of trading players between his clubs to his own perceived advantage. Parish, Harris and Blitzer have stood firm against that. Though O'Brien was lost to Lyon. So it's good to have someone not interested in Palace, as its own identity, out of the club. Whether he will find a buyer is the question. He'll be wanting a good profit - and will need one if he's hoping to fund Everton. A good place to lose a fortune. Palace are in a very attractive position to new investors. But the buyer will not have complete control - unless they can buy additional shares. If Textor can't find a buyer then he can always sell to the current shareholders but they won't pay top dollar for his shares if he hasn't managed to sell them elsewhere. If Harris and Blitzer wanted Parish out then they could buy the shares but even Textor was extremely complimentary about Parish's ability to run the club so unlikely they want to find (or be) the new operational talent running the club. Fortunately the squad is in great shape so we don't need all the shareholders to be reaching agreement on huge player purchases. Funding for the new stand could be an issue, I guess it would need all shareholders to be in favour and supplying money / guarantees? Thanks mileend. Appreciate the response and enjoyed reading it. Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Edited by Badger11 (26 May 2024 6.03pm) You either didn't read it, it was a long time ago or just false. Ipswich and Brentford, brighton , Villa off the top of my head

Villa were relegated in 2016 and then bounced back, unfortunately you are correct about Brighton. Anyway my point is that staying in the PL is very hard and most teams that come up get relegated This is from 2021. Clubs never relegated. Edited by Badger11 (26 May 2024 11.33pm)

Sky sports news reporting that textor has instructed his legal team to find a buyer for his 45% palace shares so he can take over Everton.

As Textor has said, there is no common ground between his plans and ours. Beats me why he didn't get that when he bought in. Still, Im not a fan of multi club multi swap ownership.

Everton were reported to be receiving funding from 777 every month to cover operating expenses (£16 Million per month, since January ?) If that were true then surely Everton imminent requirement for funding is going to be more pressing than waiting for Textor to sell his shares & do his due diligence on investing into Everton- Textor was making noises about being unhappy at Palace & was considering selling his shares about a year ago (a "toys out of the pram" moment) I would have thought if a clear exit route was possible it would have taken place by now. You’re right but the (massive) problem Everton have is there isn’t exactly a line of prospective investors queuing up ahead of Textor

I really have no idea how much it would cost to buy Textors 45% share holding, dose anyone have a ballpark figure.
