Seeing claims that Le Pen is winning big in some of the French overseas territories. Places with big non-white majorities. Only explanation being offered so far is that they have all been very anti-vax, with riots and so on, which could explain why they have turned on Macron in the way they have. Still expecting Macron to win it but it might be an interesting night. ...and as current French nationals worried their national status will change with a back lash to the trans Mediterranean migration.

A comfortable win for Macron projected by the very reliable French system. Looks like 60% of the vote.

What this result proves is that although Macron may not be popular, right wing politics, however diluted and disguised they might have been, are even less popular. The right have been given a bloody nose. It may not knock them out, but they are in a corner and on the ropes. They may now have to look for a new champion to carry their flag. A good result for common sense.

No. Expressing opinions about the decline in standards demonstrated by the current government? Yes. I don't like populist con-men and women in politics wherever they raise their ugly heads. Conning people with marketing catchphrases is no way to run a country. Selling dodgy watches in Peckham market, in competition with Del boy, is all they are fit for. Macron is not a disaster. He just happens to be President during a disastrous era.

Seen some stats from French TV that show a poll claiming 91% of people who voted for Macron did so solely to stop Le Pen. Meaning the WEF candidate wins. Not because people agree with him but because they don't like the other option. That is no way to run a country.

Macron wins due to unpopulism. We live in the age of Gramsci.
