Tongue in cheek. Called having a sense of humour Just for clarity, I tuned in, did not find it funny and turned off. However I cannot believe anyone can believe it was serious.Reading some of the comments on the tweet, it seems many people did. Where has theBritish sense of humour gone? One of our biggest attractions is our language. Most people can speak a little, enough to ask the basics. They get it from watching TV. Iceland must be difficult to reach, Norway not easy either, and neither speak English. Switzerland has always received refugees. Switzerland is in 3rd place in the OECD in terms of the share of immigrants in its population, with the foreign-born accounting for 26% of the total population. 24% of them arrived in the last 5 years compared with 22% on average across OECD countries. I recognise that is not the whole story, but neither is yours!

I would say a close second to that is the willingness of the public to accept immigrants especially in jobs (and the generous benefits system of course). Many of our European neighbours talk the talk but little else. Next time you go to the Mediterranean see how many migrants are working in bars and restaurants, they're not. These countries pass all the equality laws and then ignore them local jobs for local people. As for claiming asylum it appears to be a lot easier in the UK than others which is why they choose to come here.
