Sadly Newcastle have some very winnable games coming up next though;
Leeds, Everton, Villa, West Ham, Brentford & Brighton are their next six league opponents.

Do you watch football? If so, which bit of you thinks West Ham, Villa, or Brighton represents "winnable" opposition for Newcastle in their present state? Of those five, I'd say only Everton is obviously "winnable" and they'll have a new manager bounce, for whatever that's worth.

So Syd, after those 6 league games, Newcastle won FIVE and drew one.

Seems as though I do watch football after all…and understand it marginally better than you!

With the season coming towards the business end with only a handful of games left I think its clear that Eddy Howe has done better than anticipated & NUFC will quite likely end up with a place in Europe next season, whether that's CL or the Europa thingy remains to be seen -

Just as NUFC will likely look to upgrade areas of their playing staff during the close season, I wonder if they will look to bring in a manager who has European experience to be better equipped to cope with the new demands they will face ?

There are many who will say Eddy Howe has earnt his opportunity to see how he copes but will the owners see it the same way ?

If not - then perhaps Eddy Howe would be good for Palace -( if he doesn't go to Southampton)

They will keep him as long as they are moving forward . Howe has proven over the years ,especially earlier in his career that he can fire up players and get a performance out of the most average of squads .
The test of whether he can cut it in 'elite' managment will of course come when he has a number of world stars with nothing to prove to direct . That he will find is a completely different ball game
I sort of hope he does OK (though I wish it wasnt at Saudi FC ) if only that it means one less usesless foriegn coach masqurading as the latest god of tactics
