Just thinking back on the events over the past few days... ...Isn't it absolutely incredible that the trading bloc you are a member of has the power to raise the border of your country, and without even telling you? Without a vote, without safeguards, without notification. Shouldn't that kind of unchecked power terrify people? If the EU Commssion wanted to, and were even more tone-deaf than they currently are, they could do exactly the same again today. How would you get rid of them, in that circumstance? A 2/3 majority censure vote in the "EU Parliament" that requires a fanatically pro-EU chamber to unseat the executive. Good luck with that. This is why I think the EU has to be dismantled - the more it flexes it's muscles, the more power it consolidates, the harder it will be to take it back from them. Imagine now that their dreams of an EU army bear fruit. How would enforcement of Article 16 play out? Sure, the Irish would never occupy the border under an EU flag. But I'll bet the house I don't own (or one of our pro-EU poster's many) that the French would be there in a flash. Anything to stick it to the UK. The President of the EU commission is a failed German politician sacked from her role as Defence Minister. She was considered a joke in her home country. The EU Parliament nominated 3 people to that job she not being one of them, their nominations were ignored which is how she got the job. Anyway she is playing true to form a German version of Diane Abbott.

At least the British ones will have to make do with The House of Lords from now on. There's just no comparing the money. I think perhaps 40-60k expenses in the House of Lords, if that. A good 200k with expenses in the EU.

It would appear that the EU are still going to block exports of vaccine.

Last bit of info I saw was that they were trying to scapegoat somebody in the Commission as it is clear they are trying to save the neck of that dreadful VDL woman for reasons that are beyond me. I suspect it is because the Germans know they can control her and she answers directly to them now (for example only gave interviews to German news outlets over the weekend as I understand it) so they want to keep her in post. I would be very surprised if there will be any disruptions to our vaccine programme caused by EU interference.

Another fine example of how 'Democracy' works in the EU... Anything other than let the Italian people have a vote.

But since the left found a way of removing him from power they have been failing upwards and have no real national election legitimacy. This is just further evidence that they will do anything to stay in power.

And you certainly do not invite somebody who nobody has cast a vote for to try and form a 'Government'. It is a measure solely designed to try and protect French and German banks. And utterly unbecoming of any kind of democracy worthy of the name.

Meanwhile in the UK. Labour defends new strategy to focus on patriotism and union flag. How absurd and ridiculous. With all our present troubles we wave a flag at them? Thank God I left Labour.

I thought Labour loved a bit of flag-waving at its conferences? Attachment: Flags.jpeg (59.23Kb)

And that is why Labour has lost the votes of working class people. Sneering Emily Thornberry didn't get it. Believe it or not many people especially the working class are proud of this country, perhaps because they or their love ones have served. The old Labour party of Clement Attlee got that you can be socialist and proud of the UK. New Labour is so infatuated with identity politics it has become irrelevant to many. When was the last time you saw a demo or march where the left proudly carried the Union Jack (they only want to burn it). Maybe Starmer can move the Labour party closer to the Attlee vision but I doubt it. Never mind you're chip butties and a mug of tea where's my quinoa salad and skinny latte.
