Edited by Penge Eagle (29 Jun 2020 11.30pm) He's right of course. Football never needed this in the first place. Football is a case of merit earns you a place on the team. Outside of that it's just far left destructive sentiment.

Shame on the EPL, Sky, The BBC and all the other virtue signalling fools for getting on board the deeply divisive and sinister BLM bandwagon.

It was what threw me from the beginning about this entire debacle. BLM for all their many faults are not guilty of spin. It is rather admirable in this modern world. They never hid their wider agenda hence why the sight of people like Starmer and all those cops bending their knees was so alarming. It made zero sense and shows how almost pavlovian the response is from the Progressive side to even the mildest perception of being accused of racism. No thinking, no trying to understand, just immediate retreat into full compliance with whatever the latest clothes their Emperor thinks he is wearing. BLM are full on Marxist revolutionaries. And now with healthy bank balances and global recognition, including our own Premiership proclaiming their support loud and proud. Nicely played by the Comrades. Kudos where it is due.
Rumours circulating that Starmer back-pedalled after seeing results from a survey on public view of BLM. A survey has just been released.

Delicious and so sadly inevitable. Take absolutely ZERO quarter. This is how these ignorant virtue signaling cretins might finally learn. Nope. They threw their towel in with BLM and released the hounds on anyone that didn't. Own it, and everything it stands for.

"The Premier League said it recognised 'the importance of the message that black lives matter' but made clear that it 'does not endorse any political organisation or movement, nor support any group that calls for violence or condones illegal activity" Except make every player wear their badge.... kneel before the game.. ref included... Those that spoke out about this was branded a racist...the truth in the matter is this... yes, there are bad eggs out there in all walks of life... the good far out weigh the bad. Focus on the good... promote positivity - wanna be a hip hop star, set a good example. wanna be a sport star, set a good example, wanna be a politician, set a good example...

Where I struggle is the notion that it was a good idea in the first place. That somehow they are shocked about what BLM stood for given how open and honest they have always been about their unashamedly Marxist revolutionary stance. But I am convinced Starmer is just a stooge anyway. Orders from above a so on. But now he has effectively done the legs of the Left with his sacking of RLB I expect his puppet masters no longer feel the need to pander to that side of the party. They have been smashed and are cowering in a corner. Not got the balls to stand up to him or break away. Just useful idiots who will vote for a Tory lite brand just because they have no other choice.

The BBC has chosen the campaign to erect a statue to a footballer dropped from playing for England because he was black as one of their top three stories. No mention of the backlash against BLM by people involved with the Premier League on their home page. Yes, it was harsh and bigoted by the England selectors - especially in the racially enlightened 1920s.

No mention of the backlash against BLM by people involved with the Premier League on their home page. Yes, it was harsh and bigoted by the England selectors - especially in the racially enlightened 1920s. I was going to post on the BBC about this topic as an example yet again of bad journalism. The gist of the story is that he was selected and then dropped because he was black. 1. No evidence is presented in the article to back up this claim so if it exists then it is bad journalism as it should have been included. 2. The article fails to explain how England players were selected and how that process was problematic. Prior to Walter Winterbottom players were called up by a selection committee made up of amateurs. The complaint from within football was that these people had their favourites and ignored the advice of the professionals. Many great players of that era did not get enough caps for this reason and so eventually the selection process was changed. 3. Plymouth Argyle played in the 3rd division and then the 2nd division whilst he was at the club. The article claims (again no evidence) that someone from the FA came and saw him play decided because he was black not to select him. His goal scoring feet in the lower leagues 137 goals in 401 appearances or 1 in 3 hardly a stellar strike rate especially in the lower league. It is just as possible that the scout decided he wasn't that good ? 4. Throw away comment from the BBC he was replaced by Billy Walker of Aston Villa (Division 1). The Beeb forgot to add about Walker "He is considered by many to be the greatest footballer to ever play for Aston Villa Football Club and one of the greatest players to have played for England" So being bumped for a player 2 divisions above you with a far better scoring record is hardly a surprise. Walker had a 1 in 2 record for England. 5. Having said all that I don't doubt that Leslie would have suffered racial abuse from opposition fans and it is quite possible that he was dropped for the reasons the article states. However It is not enough to guess that was the reason not if you are the BBC. If the people of Plymouth want to put up a statue to him why not he clearly was a big fish in a small pond but that doesn't mean he shouldn't have one. Edited by Badger11 (01 Jul 2020 7.56am)
