The vast majority of WW2 combatants survived, not just the luckiest toughest. For example between 3% and 4% of British servicemen in WW2 were killed. Even in WW1, approximately 8 out of 9 British soldiers survived ie about 11% died. Edited by YT (18 Apr 2019 7.16am)

If that was 3% that would mean 12,790,000 serving in army, navy & raf, wiki indicates the army had 2.9 million served in WW2. So 3% looks wrong.

The statistic will no doubt be higher for combatants, but I still maintain that the vast majority of combatants (rather than the toughest, luckiest) survived, otherwise British deaths would have been measured in millions.

It is wrong, as is the figure for WW1. It's miles off. 2.2 million British men where conscripted and 750,000 died. It's a f***ing massive percentage.

Sorry Chris an others; I was quoting a bum figure. It was approx TEN per cent in WW2. The approx 11 per cent for WW1 was correct. I will now don my coat.

Can we have a campaign for 'Enough' virtue signalling? Apparently not......To be fair to Hennessey, all those that have something big to lose cuck.....he's no different. He's looking for any 'good boy' points he can find because that's a big income to protect. So what's putting your name to a overly dramatic campaign if it's against abuse from the stands. I can't think many of us are actually for it. Still, the memes are pretty funny.

Interesting tweet a few mins ago from Palace fans of Polish extraction (who stand in the Arthur) offering to pay for WH's visit to auschwitz-birkenau.
