Because Britain is so big and near by.

It's almost like they must be economic migrants, that's just the sinical part of me.

I already do, I make a monthly dd to refugee charity for about a year and a half now

I’m more an Action Aid person myself. Helping innocent children in their home country and, in turn, the country they’re in, because it needs to improve. I don’t think encouraging the whole world to emigrate West is a responsible aim.

I think helping via aid in the home country is obviously the most sensible course of action.

However it's always been a myth that improving the wealth of third world nations helps ensure that the people there stay and sort their own countries out and not emigrate.

Indeed what actually happens is that you just increase the number of people who can afford the trip to Europe.

So essentially any help should also be allied to very strict rules on immigration....similar to what Japan has.

That said, this needed to be implemented forty years ago.....in many ways the genie is way way way out of the bottle and it can't be put back.....it's all lies for the soft minded who avert their eyes from reality.

The future is one of greater divide and conflict and ultimately flight.

That's good of you, we can all help in different ways, where we differ slightly is I don't feel we should play one set of people against another, all charities are deserving in their own way and its not a place to stand in judgement

It is totally unacceptable to leave the safe refuge of France to illegally cross the channel tunnel.

I do want to accept documented legitimate refugees who take the correct route.
Don't you?

Good article, especially the graph showing how many Syrian refugees we took compared to the rest of Europe of which we should be ashamed of as a country, so you want to help but clearly we don't help nearly enough

Perhaps you should volunteer seeing as the UK does not help enough?

There is nothing in international law to say that refugees must claim asylum in the first country they reach

I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.

I don't blame people for wanting a better life but that includes myself and those I care about.
By allowing these people to come here, we are jeopardising our own futures.

Those are two completely different issues.
The number we take legally has no bearing or validation of people crossing illegally.
One day you might say. Yes you right, I take your point.

This isn't want the link is saying.

Also the link is for asylum support. To be entitled for the benefit which lasts 21 days you to be leaving the country voluntarily.

All this 'entitlement' to other people's money.

It's cheaper for them to leave voluntarily.
