I agree that he is an underwhelming signing if he is our marquee signing. Quite clearly he isn't our marquee signing though is he so I'm confused why people are going mad about it. He is a squad player and everyone has said for the past 3 seasons that we need squad depth.

He's shown a bit of class about him, Hodgson and the squad already know him, he already knows his way around the club. Also, would contribute as much as Benteke will for the following 3 seasons at a fraction of the cost.. I don't see how this is a bad signing on our part? It's just good business.

Good work rate, great ball control and passing too. Plus he wants to play for us despite getting slated on here. Good enough for me

I don't need to sell my soul...he's already in me.

Spot on. He was pants at the start of his time with us, never became exceptional but had some strong games. I have a feeling he can become a little better in his second year and will be good to have around.

Exactly and he himself knew he had a bad season. That’s what he said in his interview today. He knows he can do better but he had a couple of good games last season and will play an important role playing about 25 games. It’s a smart move for that sort of money.

I wouldn't mind if it was someone decent - yet this is a player who started 14 PL games for us and came on as sub in 6 and scored the grand total of 1 goal (and that was offside). We already have ssveral non-scoring strikers. Instead of someone we know is no good, why not take a risk on Maupay or Roofe or another Championship striker who actually knows how to score a goal and who won't want crazy wages? The sooner Hodgson, Freedman, Parish and co depart, the better, as we will go down with this squad.

Perfectly sums the situation up.

Well, I meet all of that criteria so how about giving me a contract?

I'm also nowhere near premier league standard either, but that doesn't seem to be a qualifying criteria for you.

Ffs.

You cannot buy Sorloth for that, even now.

It’s a shrewd signing, there is zero downside and the lad can do a job and is a regular international in a good side.

Get a grip, this is a good signing.

Zero downside?!?!?!

How about the fact we had him on loan for a season and he has comprehensively proven that he's not good enough for the premier league ffs.

These posts celebrating this signing are absolutely mad.

It says it all about where we are at.

Coming in at £2.5m he is a decent, if not inspirational, addition.

Would have preferred somebody who could score goals like Aleksandar Mitrovic on £50k/week but that's too late.

Dougie will always be a legend, but maybe its time we found a new sporting director.

Out of interest, is his brother any good, Andre Ayew? He's going cheap too, we do like a bargain.

Dire absolutely dire .. our 4 strikers including Ayew last lesson scored what 3 goals between them ... and this is the answer, I don’t care if he was £25 a complete waste of wage bill.

To justify it by saying he has the ability to run around or pass the ball a bit is mind numbing .. absolute joke of a sighing and a becoming joke of a club.

Stating its a bargin at 2.5million without knowing what his wages are is a bit premature.

He does run his socks of and so would I for anything over £5 grand a week. Again this does not make him a bargin.

Squad player no more no less.
