The young man did good when he came on today. His vision is exceptional. Opportunities opened up as soon as he came on. I, for one, will be well pissed off if he's not at the club next season.

Don't think he made any difference today tbh, in fact I can't remember him being really involved at all. If he'd have been playing instead of Jimmy Mac then we would have been beaten by a lot more. At the moment he is not a 90 minute player for us, not saying that he is useless but he needs to add strength and toughness to his skills but being a vegan I can't see how he can add these attributes to his game.

Pretty sure with the nutritional experts these players work with he'll be fine. Probably has a far more balanced diet than 99 percent of the population.

Said it before, say it again - Max Meyer is 1st class footballer. How he has to sit on the bench With likes of Schlupp and Macca (Yeah, I know his industry) on the Pitch, is Beyond me.

Meyer is a curious case because he looks so good when he’s got the ball it may disguise the fact that sometimes he’s not actually doing very much. Presumably his strength can be worked on because he’s not actually that small; not to compare them beyond the physical but he’s the same height as Eden Hazard and could give Messi a couple of inches. There’s an open goal for somebody.

I really want Meyer to do well. The promise of a young, gifted, international from the continent is really exciting and seems like the kind of signing we should be making to kick on. However they don't seem to deliver... I thought Macca was the only one trying to get the ball done and play first half. Players looked scared of being open for a pass. We were better with Meyer on but I think that some of that is coincidence. We were pushing for an equaliser and Wilf had swapped wings etc.
I read this board everyday but never write anything; except this. |

Should play every week along side Kouyate with Luka behind holding. Simple as that.

Jimmy Mac still has a lot to offer though, particularly in a game where we spend the vast majority without the ball

I think I can recall Meyer playing one 15 yard squarish ball yesterday. I can't think of much else. To be fair most of our play yesterday was forgettable though.

Him OR Luka for me though. Perfect player to inject some stamina in the latter stage of games from the bench.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Max Meyer' by bexleydave I thought he was superb yesterday. It shows what he can bring to the side if he is played in a forward position.
Let's keep the ball this season! |
