Over the 22 seasons (with 38 games), the average number of points gained by clubs in the relegation zone has been about 13-14 from now to the end of the season. The highest gain was 22 points, and the lowest was 8. On only 7 occasions so far, has the relegation zone moved by more than 14 points. 37 is the average number needed to stay up, and a higher number was required only 7 times.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

Looking at the game overall, in my humble estimation it was definitely 2 points lost rather than a point gained. Disappointing first half, totally different in the second half and overall given all our attempts and near misses we fully deserved to win. As for Townsend - well off the pace and a disappointment throughout. When one considers our next 4 games, we really are in a precarious position.

Interesting data from previous poster thanks for a well-researched post. Optimistic we will do this.

If we'd signed decent cover/competition for the wings in the window i'd fully expect him to up his game, and if not we'd have another option to bring on. Another area where we've hamstrung ourselves.

We bought 2 players who haven't played since November/December and another who appears to have been bought as "One for the future".

Got to say their right back was quick. Was it Yedlin? Wilf gave up having foot races with him. And that did force Wilf into being more of a play maker than his usual attacking self.
