^^ This. We'd used all three subs, hadn't we? McArthur for Cabaye, Bakary Sako on for Townsend, and Dann for Sakho of course. Otherwise I don't suppose there would have been time to hoist the subsitution board, "Come in Number 17 - your time is up". Isn't there a way of getting one of the players to run across with a message to the effect of "Which part of 'Luka takes the penalties' don't you understand?"? Edited by chateauferret (09 Dec 2017 9.04pm) As far as who was captain on the pitch, Speroni can't be faulted because he's all the way down the other end it's impractical for him to sprint down just to say who takes a penalty. The last time I saw something like this was a few years ago with Everton, where the designated taker was pushed aside by the player who was fouled. The result was the same as today. Perhaps Benteke argued that Mili had already taken one and the keeper may have more info on what was coming. If so, the other players should have insisted Mili take it. All Prem League keepers should know by now he picks a side and powers it that way. With Mili, it isn't knowing what he will do but being able to stop both his placement and power. Knowing what he will do isn't enough. Benteke is a poor penalty taker and should never be allowed to take another Palace penalty for as long as he is with the club.

Presumably if the keeper is the captain he delegates to someone if there is a captain decision required at the other end of the pitch: that person ought to have been Milivojevic and he should have had the authority as well as the moral case for telling Tekers where to stick his claim to the spot-kick.

So now it's Jules faault.Time to move on. Did I say that? We were merely asked who was the captain and I answered the question. If you were Speroni, you would have been at the other end of the pitch; the question of who takes the penalties was hardly controversial; you wouldn't have expected anyone in the team to be so stupid as to call that into question, or to be so bone-headed as to threaten to cause a scene if told no. Everyone knew what was supposed to happen if we won a penalty. Even if the message from the bench had reached Benteke it would probably still have fallen on deaf ears. This player needs to be disciplined. What happened was 100% his fault and nobody else's. Edited by chateauferret (09 Dec 2017 10.06pm)

Love the Palace rollercoaster had a quiet afternoon visting an elderly relative left at 3.50 on BBc website we were winning 2/1 I didn't put the radio and helped sort out the Christmas lights and Decorations to get Brownie points.at 4.52 I switched on the TV the score was 2/2 Bourmouth had scored before half time I felt very deflated but then the penalty after the miss I was such a misery. Then I looked at the table we are now only 2 points from 4th from bottom I would have taken that weeks ago when we lost 1st 7 games and didn't score a goal yes it sucks but hey ho we live to fight another day roll on Watford

I had a friend with me yesterday who commented how much arguing there was between the players on the pitch - our own players that is.

I don't think Speroni was at fault for either goal and he made a really good save down at Defoes feet. I also thought Tompkins tackle on Defoe was really top class especially if he was carrying an injury.
