I personally think we waste money in some areas and penny pinch where more should be spent in others. We leave transfers till the last possible moment to save on wages, which is fine if it wasn't for the fact that we often miss out to clubs ]that are willing to get their business done early. I think our wage bill is too high (6th highest in England?) yet we often baulk at fees quoted for players that other clubs our size would pay in a heartbeat to get the deal done. The Benteke deal was pretty much on the insistence of the Americans. SP himself admitted he wouldn't have paid it. I have not a lot against SP personally but a well run club we are not. Definitely room for improvement imo. Who did we miss out on that the club wanted...?

SP looks really poorly. Has anybody else noticed? He is really, really skinny and stiff. When I saw him the other day on the Zaha interview I thought he looked terrible and that he needed a good dinner, a weeks sleep and a shed load of medication.

Well hopefully with all the major negotiations and transfer business out of the way he's only a weekend or two in Ibiza back to being his old self

He is starting to turn the same colour as Trump. Yeh agree, he looks seriously gaunt lately. Perhaps he is having an allergic reaction to stability and a pretty deep squad. Just kidding, hats off to Skinny Steve for retaining the manager and Zaha, and adding some quality signings on the cheap. Getting rid of CY Lee is a real step in the right direction, sorry Chungy! I would be proper stiff after just getting Zaha to sign on the dotted line too.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Previous windows have been mixed and usually it all happens at the last minute, but this time, most likely with Roy's advice, Parrish played an absolute blinder - I'm sure Wilf planned to stay all along and all the hints at going were a red herring so that other clubs didn't know if we were desperate or comfortable, which effects to what degree they will try to rip us off, keep them guessing and you're more likely to pay the real value/price for the player. Ayew as a loanee is prob a better deal than a buy as he needs to prove himself by applying pressure on Benteke and Townsend, you could not really hope for better replacements for Cabaye and RLC than Meyer and Kouyate, and with Meyer on a free the addition to the wage bill is set off substantially. Last window was p*ss poor, but credit where it's due, SP played his cards like Maverick this time imho.

If only Parish knew as much as you we might be an established premier league club making a profit every season with a massive beautiful new stand on the way. Hmm, You could be right.

Let's be honest here, on the basis of his performance last season, I'd actually agree with Steve Parish - he wasn't worth it! You are of course right although SP could not have known that at the time.

Your post is contradictory, you moan about wanting save on wages, then say our wage bill is too high. How is that contradictory? The club does try to save on wages by leaving deals to the last minute WHICH IS FINE although we often miss out on targets.
