Seeing that photo with the shingle perimeter brought back memories. In the 70's they used to let us climb over the boards at the end of a game when we stood in the new stand and walk round to the exit where whitehorse end meets old stand.

I know you are but what am I?

The Main Stand hasn't changed much...

No, the main stand hasn't changed much at all. You may be interested to know that when we moved from 'The Nest' at Selhurst, to Selhurst Park, that main stand was bought from Tooting & Mitcham F C. It was dismantled and re-erected at Selhurst. Visually it has remained the same ever since, other than there used to be a standing area down the front, called 'the enclosure', with seats behind.

And a couple of little caffs under the stand. The player's tunnel was also on the half way line in those days.

The crowd is outstanding, and especially with the penalty after 44 minutes it was clear when we came out after half-time the welcome would be pretty loud and not too friendly. Crystal Palace wanted to strike back, so that was all clear. This is a wonderful place to play football - Jurgen Klopp

I remember in the 60's there were turnstiles to the Enclosure at the bottom of the main stand - so if you were on the Holmesdale terrace and it was raining, for another 1 shilling (5p) you could go through the turnstile and get under cover...

Loved the Palace Dollies standing either side of the tunnel forming a guard of honour to clap the teams onto the pitch.
Remember way back they tried having both teams coming up the tunnel side by side, was a bit tight for room though.Johnny Byrne came out against Posh and was getting an ear bashing from Rigby their centre half.Better not say on here what he said to him!

Does anyone have any photos of "The Last Stand", the last game before the old Holmesdale Terrace was turned into the stand it now is.

I was at the match, had a ticket with my name printed on it and got a photo from the Addy special edition at the time. I've since lost both.

It would be great to see the photo again.

i will have a look thru my photos, ive got one but its taken of the prints in the red n' blur bar.

great day that...didnt uncle ron come onto the pitch afterwards with a microphone telling all the "mindless b******s" who ran onto th pitch to get back into the stands.

Yeah Braunstone I seem to remember he did. But I think his rant was directed at DRT!

Ahhhh, the beautiful red and blue stripes and clock on the Arthur.

So glad they're now obscured with advertising
