Thanks (and sometimes not) to my dad whose followed them since the late 40's.

He took me to see my first game back in about 1976 when I was 7. It was against Fulham and George Best was staggering around for them.

It was actually the game in which Best broke Ian Evans leg in 2 places and effectivly finished his promising career. Best got a yellow card, but I seem to recall Ricki Harcouk (!?) being sent off for punching him !!

Every since I've had nothing but incredible highs, lows, frustrations and memories. That's what supporting a team like Palace is all about and something all those Moan Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. armchair fans will never experience.

Thanks Dad.

You've hit the nail on the head, Eggy. A lot of the time, supporting Palace is totally frustrating, but that makes the good times all the more enjoyable.

Cos my dad would'nt take me to see the Arse.
And i still remember the words

"if you wanna go to football you will have to come with me to the Palace".

I still remind him sometimes of all the trophies i could have celebrated since.lol

But after 31 yrs i would'nt trade Palace for anyone. All the disappointments we suffer, make all the great wins all the more pleasant

Forever Palace

Never mind the great wins, any win still means something.

Winning the championship probably feels the same to a Moan Utd fan as Palace winning away to Walsall does to us !!

I even doubt winning the treble would have felt any better to them, than 5-0 against Brighton did to us.

very true eggy, very true

and u know why?

cos when we score, its like seeing our son (or dad for me!) score, when we win, its like a bloody family event or something, when we're promoted its like... i cant even describe it!!!

when man united win, its a reason for fans to gloat. thats it.

its like a second girlfriend, married to palace... we actually have feelings for our club, whereas manure fans etc etc just support the club they do for "glory"... buts whats glory without the tragedy

I went to my first game in the 70's against one of the Bristol Clubs, don't remember which, it was one of those things divorced fathers do with their kids I suppose. Two of my brothers didn't want to go, but my other brother and I became hooked. Long after the old man gave up, my brother would still take me to stand in the pissing rain on the Holmesdale. Everyone around our way supported Charlton or s***wall, so we had no-one else to go with, ever. Sometimes I think I'l never forgive my dad for getting us addicting to Palace. Leaving mum though, she's never been so happy. The two brothers who didn't like football both go to see Charlton play now, 'cause it's fashionable or their kids like it. That's bollocks.

Well how about this for a tale ………. I married the club !
Seriously, I’m a Mancunian born and bred, and before you start my family are REAL Mancunians, so we’re still celebrating Saturday’s result

As a lad though I didn’t take much interest in the goings on at Maine Road, and to be honest though I played footie I didn’t take much interest in the professional game. To a cut a long story short, I married a young lady from Kent in 1976 only to find out that her father and sister are mad Palace fans. Nothing much happened at first, but after the Eagles gained promotion to the second in 1977 my father-in-law came along and said, “Why don’t we go up the Palace and see how they are doing?”. So one August evening I found myself walking up the wooden steps into the main stand thinking “What the hell am I doing here?”. Well needless to say the rest is history. Several season tickets later, and despite a move to Bedfordshire, I ‘ve just signed up for 3 more years! Now where’s the number of that divorce lawyer ……….

Cos my Dads a lying B*ST*RD, he told me they were good.
Thirty years later i'm still not sure if it's pleasure or pain.
So, i do a bit of Palace now and then,.... I CAN HANDLE IT?????????

P.S. You cannot seriously include chelsea when you slag of glory hunters. If you're from S.E. London like me, you have mates that are chelsea and i still say, they know, they made the wrong choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For that rainy night Chris Coleman I LOVE YOU!!!!!

I've supported palace since i was about 4 but i only became a true fan at about 8 (i'm 15 now). First game i saw was palace v W.B.A and it was
0-0. Still, liked the kit, liked the ground, Dad supported them and i really hate Arsenal who y mums family support so it had to be palace.

NO REGRETS!!
