Stop using that awful X might help him

I'm a big fan of Musk, even though like Trump I differ with him on things....but personally he has to be backed in most things because believe me....his enemies are yours.

Musk is pretty much the only person protecting free speech out of all the major media elites in the west. Every other political or media organisation that controls what you see and hear wants to narrow what can be discussed and limit the public space megaphone to only narratives they approve of.

That is inherently bad and pretty much entirely against what the point of the west was.

However, it's also true that most of the complaints concerning X that I've briefly read here are accurate.

That said it isn't hard to understand what's happening back at X...or whatever we call it....(I like everyone else preferred the old names of Facebook and Twitter instead of these rebrands)

Twitter is sticking the opinions of people you don't like onto your feed because it's deliberately content farming to keep eyes and time on the platform.....essentially that attracts advertisers and that's what this comes down to.

There is a concerted effort by the big advertisers to close down Twitter by not advertising there......and it's entirely political.

Musk has gone to lawfare over that and I fully support him and if you support saying what you want without being banned you will as well.

Have to agree - he's paid a massive price for a loss making company and ruined it.

The 'free speech' argument is not acceptable when people are inciting violence and/or racism as these are criminal offences.
Nobody would bat an eyelid if someone was arrested for circulating illegal images so surely the same has to apply to words.

His actions in recent times have become quite weird - from him strongly disliking Trump to now being his cheerleader.

He has also openly impacted the war in Ukraine by turning off
Starlink to Ukraine despite having supplied these via Pentagon defense contracts and has recently become quite pro Russian in his posts. Is he now actively working to thwart US foreign policy?

It all feels a bit like a mid-life crisis and his professional success has clearly lead to a bit of a God complex.

I expect his profile will crash and burn one way or another over the next few years - too many bad decisions.

On that basis, politicians should be getting nervous.

Unfortunately, the media generally panders to its target audience.

In the case of the Palace websites, I presume that it is a case of birds of a feather. On the BBS specifically, it is run and paid for by people who are largely left leaning Blairites. They basically ban anyone who disagrees with the clique of leftist users.
That is their prerogative as the administrators.

Elon Musk clearly hates the grip the left has on the media and decided to use his money to change that.

how many times are you going to keep mentioning the left leaning media.
Let's look at the evidence.

The world media is still strongly influenced by Rupert Murdoch - hardly left wing is he, and therefore nor are any of his companies.

In the UK newspaper section we have about 10 mainstream newspapers and all but 2 are right leaning (all but the Mirror and Guardian) so that's 80% right leaning, probably higher based on volume sold.

On TV we have the BBC now controlled by an ex Tory candidate and only on Sunday during the riots they described the riots as 'pro British' protests.
Their leading political figure Laura Kuenssberg is regularly criticised for her bias against labour and often posts comments directly from Tory HQ.
We have GB news that is so right leaning it doesn't even care and employs a number of Tory MPs directly.

In the States they have Fox News which seems on a par of GB News to the point they have been sued over their election fraud comments.

So i would say the right is very well represented

Ok, I have to push back on some of this.

Murdoch owes four British newspapers in Britain.

The Sun, The Sun on Sunday, The Times and The Sunday Times.

The Sun, both versions, literally supported voting Labour in this election. They famously supported Blair.....the idea that the Sun is 'right wing' is laughable, the Sun supports whatever they think flogs copy.

The Times, both versions, is a small 'c' conservative paper that strongly supported Remain and regularly attacks anything to the right of the centralist Tory party.

Ok, let's move to TV broadcast....something that gains vastly more eyes than newspapers....Both are dying but TV less quickly than print media.

In Britain, none of the main broadcasters are right wing. GB News has been operating for a few years but is under constant attack by regulators and ignored by advertisers precisely because it has right wing content on it.....specific efforts being made to make it unviable.

In the US, the picture is different. However, Musk is under specific attack in an effort to close him down as I wrote earlier.

Well that is wrong for starters.

What about The Independent. The worst named newspaper ever for one? The Metro, The Observer, The Morning Star?

Hardly anyone reads newspapers anyway.

The bulk of media is TV and internet. MSN is laughably left wing.

Anyone who still thinks the BBC is right wing needs a check up.

What about ITN, SKY, Channel 4 and just about every other channel? Left wing.

GB News is one of only a tiny number of right leaning channels.

I've already tried suggesting that, but his lordship EverybodyDannsNow kindly pointed out that I'm not qualified to comment.

The subject of this thread is Elon Musk and X I think.

I am an old codger, but I am not a slouch in terms of today's technology - I build my own computers and I use my phone to buy things. However, I have never used, or subscribed to, Twitter/X, so I can't comment on whether Musk's ownership has changed the platform, but I do believe the use of social media generally has got out of control and has become one of the main catalysts in the coordination of this latest uprising.

As far as Musk's input into what the world is seeing at the moment I think that, as the planet's richest man, he is in a unique position to express his views. He is not alone in believing that our country is under attack, more and more commentators are also saying so. The indigenous population is rapidly being swamped with nationalities and cultures that are alien to us and, what's more, do not make attempts to adapt or fit in.

I'm glad Musk has written what he has. As an outsider he can see clearly what is happening here, but unfortunately the government, particularly the current one, wil continue to pander to minority groups for fear of being considered racist.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Good post....and I tip my hat for continuing to engage with technology. So many silver foxes miss out like that.

It was a leftist cesspit, and now Musk is cleaning up and redressing the balance.

So he can compete with Gab and go bankrupt? Great result!
