I remember 9/11 and how that facilitated the war in Iraq. Despite the fact that it turned out the terrorists were backed by Saudis and Egypt. Which was quite inconvenient.

I remember at the time having two opposing thoughts on this; 1: how well organised the terrorists must have been (or incompetent the secret service were to not forsee it) and 2: how stupid it was as this gave George Junior the opportunity to go after everybody who had p1ssed off the USA as he had the full backing of the public.
