He is an excellent DM though. Once he's up to speed - he'll be right next to Wharton but in the meantime - Hughes or Lerma, IMO.

Agree.

I’ve a feeling Wharton’s perceived lack of athleticism is his greatest asset as it can blind many to just how good he is.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see City wanting him to replace Rodri.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

You are spot on, and with 5 years left on his contract and, i suspect, no release clause, he will brake the English transfer record, the record for a English player, between English clubs is still Rio Ferdinand, Leeds to Man U, 29m, he will go for 100m+

Before YT comments, i apologize sincerely for spelling Brake, instead of Break,

Both our statements, in our alignment, are bold but I’d suggest very far from ridiculous.

I think we’ll hear plenty of pundits saying things like “We did say he looked a talent last season” at various points. Certainly hope so anyway!

COYP!!!! Can’t wait.

Surely Grealish, Villa to Man City breaks that?

That record has long gone, Grealish AND Rice have beaten that

Caecedo went to Chelsea for £115m.
If Wharton carries on from where he left off he will break that figure easily.
I’d give it £150m conservatively.
England seriously missed a trick this summer. They never played the best player.

Dougie has positioned our club in a great place moving forward. We’ve got really good back up for most of our team and we have already sold our best player for a handsome profit. Things are looking up.

I'm not sure about the First X1 - as others have pointed out it's a squad game involving around 15 players on matchday.
One thing I do feel fairly sure of though is that Hughes will start the season as first choice.
He's been excellent under Glasner and has continued his form in pre-season.
He epitomises the way that Glasner wants to play, and while Wharton deserves all his plaudits, I wouldn't underestimate the role played by Hughes.
In time,as they regain match fitness, Doucoure and Lerma will I am sure challenge Hughes for a place and that is a good thing.
Competition for places should sharpen performances.

I tend to disagree - he improved massively under OG as a hit man/destroyer, but I was up at Wolves where he played like he was the guvnor, flying into tackles, while the rest of the team was too passive. He injured himself in one tackle and had to go off only 10 minutes in - Ahamada replaced him and was the key factor in our improving our play and getting a 3-1 win. Vieira got Ahamada as a replacement for Gallagher (Sambi Lokonga replaced Kouyate) and he is starting to fulfull his potential as a box to box midfielder who can carry the ball. Wharton is clearly number one, and Hughes is behind both Lerma and Doucoure, though Lerma may play more in the back three.

For clarification I'm talking about Hughes starting the early games, not necessarily being first choice all season.
He has a proven partnership with Wharton which was instrumental in the great run under Glasner last season.
Glasner may well see no need to change this at this stage.

Palace have a lot of depth even if Guehi and Eze both left they still have options (Riad, Kamada, Sarr)

For me GK will be interesting 50/50 between Johnstone and Henderson.

Wharton will definitely start. Doucoure has to play if he is fully fit next to him. But it is also hard to leave out Lerma who has been very good. Kamada won't get chances at DM as Palace have a lot of options. Plus he can also play further forward. I can see the front 3 as Eze, Mateta and Kamada.

And you have players that can come off the bench and make a impact (Sarr, Edouard, Ayew and Schlupp)

Any news on Mitchell is his contract expiring in 2025? He will be a option for a lot of clubs I think he will have a good season this year.
